Conan's Passport
I don't know if this has been discussed on the forums, but...
I wonder how was Conan able to fly to a beach resort in Chapter 204 due to Agasa winning a raffle.
However, in the Londo arc, Haibara prevented him to go in his shrunken body due to not having a passport.
Did Gosho made a mistake previously some how?

Re: Conan's Passport
Wasn't the beach resort still in Tokyo?
However, I'm pretty sure he did fly internationally to LA at one point (the flashback to Shinichi's first case). I wondered how he did that when he couldn't go to London without a passport.

Re: Conan's Passport
For national flights, Conan doesn't need papers. Or rather back then he didn't need one. But if he leaves the country, he needs one, of course.
Shinichi went to LA and he had a passport.

He was Shinichi when he went to LA (so his passport was valid)Fennec wrote: Wasn't the beach resort still in Tokyo?

But he was Conan when he went to London = the problem
And I guess people don't need passports to fly domestic flights. (at least not where I live)

Totally meant to be

Pretty sure he just used Shinichi's passport considering that he didn't take the actual plan ride as Conan. o_O;

Yeah, guys, you pretty much missed the whole "boarding as Shinichi through the use of the antidote" thing.Soreiyu wrote: Pretty sure he just used Shinichi's passport considering that he didn't take the actual plan ride as Conan. o_O;
Actually, that whole thing raises one of the points that endangers my willing suspension of disbelief the most about this series.
Shinichi is supposed to be dead, but there's no ACTUAL evidence to point that way.
Shinichi's death was proven by an agent that later turned out to be a traitor, but her word is not later doubted.
Especially considering she's later getting help with going into hiding - if I were a BO recon agent (or Vodka), my first thought would be "hey, what about that snooping kid that was supposedly 'dead' according to her? What if they're accomplices?".
Shinichi is later spotted at the Halloween party in the boat. Oh wait, it's just some guy (Hattori) in disguise - but then again, why is the dude disguising as someone who's supposed to be dead?
And then the flight thing. How is a dead person able to travel overseas if he's DEAD? Why are his papers still valid?
IMO it would have been a better move to let his close ones in on the secret from the very beginning, bury Shinichi's identity and build a solid fake identity (solid as in supported by certificates and papers) as Edogawa Conan.
But hey, who knows? Maybe this gaping hole in the logic of the plan might be used later for PLOT PURPOSES... Maybe it's just a matter of time.

unless I missed something, the only people who think Shinichi is dead are the Borg, there's no system anywhere that has him legally pronounced as dead. So as long as he's not dead to the legal system, there's no reason for his papers to be invalid, and unless the BO has access to flight rosters, there isn't an issue there.El Huesudo II wrote: And then the flight thing. Re: Conan's Passport
Shinichi being dead to the org is something else I don't quite understand, as he still lurks about in his actual body with tons of people knowing he's actually still alive. If Shinichi really wants to hide himself, he should play dead as Holmes did.
But then that would just totally make this a different series.

I've always wondered how the Kudo's were going to handle the passport issue when they wanted him to come live with them.

Using Kudo Yusaku's 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 connections in the Japanese Police system & Interpol.yamiangie wrote: I've always wondered how the Kudo's were going to handle the passport issue when they wanted him to come live with them.

They'd stick Conan in a suitcase, of course.yamiangie wrote: I've always wondered how the Kudo's were going to handle the passport issue when they wanted him to come live with them.

But still, it's interesting that the BO haven't yet figured out Shinichi is far from being dead.

Re: Conan's Passport
tbh I think the only reason they haven't yet is because they just trusted the APTX too much. Gin for one probably just thought "well, he's obviously dead now, so now to forget about him just like everyone else I've killed!", whereas if they had one methodical member who took notes, they'd be like "say, there was never a police report published about finding a kid's body in Tropical Land. Shouldn't someone have found his body by now?" which would them spur an investigation into his death.El Huesudo II wrote:Maybe you're right.Akonyl wrote:unless I missed something, the only people who think Shinichi is dead are the Borg, there's no system anywhere that has him legally pronounced as dead. But as it stands, they probably just think of Shinichi too much as "just another number" to care about investigating him. Remember, Shinichi is only the main character to us, to them, he's practically nothing.

Still doesn't give them the right to believe a traitor, though. Deceit, I say!

Re: Conan's Passport
If we look at Gin, who doesn't even remember who he has hit his stick with, I don't think BO even cares. Shinichi only saw the money exchange; he didn't know any details about it. Even if he survived he surely could not give the police enough details to track them down or even the police could track the non-BO people they would have found them dead (judging from typical BO negotiation standards). I don't think Gin even know that the boy is a renowned detective at the time he hit him.El Huesudo II wrote:Yeah, guys, you pretty much missed the whole "boarding as Shinichi through the use of the antidote" thing.Soreiyu wrote: Pretty sure he just used Shinichi's passport considering that he didn't take the actual plan ride as Conan. o_O;

As for Shinichi being Sherry's accomplice before taking the APTX, I think it's impossible. As a top scientist of the org she must be very carefully supervised, the BO would know right away if she has contact with somebody suspicious, especially a detective. Moreover, her reasons for rebelling the org is quite clear. She's just doing it in the sake of her own sister and herself so I won't expect them to suspect Sherry to try to destroy the org.
The loophole about building Conan a solid identity is annoying. How could he even go to school? At least he must have a birth certificate. His parents know about it, so maybe they've done this already but Gosho just didn't tell us? Anyway, I agree that these loops in logic might be something important to the plot afterwards.
