The Great Anime battle: Code Geass vs Death Note
Both are series with protagonist can be antagonist and antagonist can be protagonist.... One is the power to control one's self one is ready to die one isnt ready to die.... Which would you prefer?
Well plot:
Code Geass: The series is set after Japan's conquest by the Holy Britannian Empire on August 10, 2010, a.t.b. with their powerful new robot weapons, the Knightmare Frames, stripping Japan and its citizens of all rights and freedoms and renaming the country Area 11. The titular Lelouch is a Britannian prince who was disowned by his father, Emperor Charles Zi Britannia, after his mother was murdered, and has vowed to kill his father, the Emperor, and destroy Britannia. He gains an ability through the mysterious power of the Geass, becoming the leader of the resistance movement to fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister Nunnally can live happily.
Death Note: Light Yagami is an intelligent young man who resents what appears to be a relentless increase of crime and corruption in the world around him. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his keen judgment on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way.
Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (ã‚ラ)is located in Japan. He also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

Voted for DN since it ranks higher on my favorite list... I didn't like the mecha thing in CG and the cliffhangers in DN are more effective... Though personally I think CG ended pretty well in R2 as compared to DN Season 2... The rivalry of L and Kira is I think is better than the rivalry of Lelouch and Suzaku...
Had it been DN vs Monster, I would definite have a harder time....

Voted Code Geass, I liked some of the "surprises" and the end was magnificent. Although Death Note is also great, after for me, wasn´t good.

You never replied to my post taking you to task on on that stance.Ocelot wrote:well, it is intellectual to people who don't know what the word "intellectual" actually means. first of all you should have a choice, but in death note everything is one sided just like daxtar(or was it dextar?). the viewers should at least have a chance to judge a character by their actions but in both series we are forced to support the main character. i'm not a kid anymore that needs guidance. i'm more than capable of judging other people, thank you very much death note/daxtar writers.Beastly wrote: Voted Code Geass... Firstly, if you don't want to support "Daxtar" (who sounds more like a galactic invader than a serial killer), you shouldn't watch a show... with his name in the title. If you're surprised that the show centers around the titular character, then I guess they really had you guessing from the beginning. Such brilliant writers.
Secondly, I have my doubts that you have ever truly evaluated any piece of fiction for what it is. Your use of the word "support" leads me to believe you actually have never judged anything based on its merits alone and instead dilute it to the most generic terms in order to make your argument seem presentable when, in reality... it's not only baseless, but thoughtless. That's why your opinion just simply isn't shared by many, honestly. No one is watching Dexter thinking, "Oh, I love how this guy is a serial killer!". It's witnessing the evolution of the character, evil as he may be, from episode to episode that makes it fascinating. No sane people are watching shows to "support" one character over the pretense of the story itself--to do so is a haphazard (and misguided) attempt at assessing something or someone's true worth.
You aren't forced to support Light in Death Note, either; I know plenty of people who rooted for L right to the very end (and subsequently Near & Mello) even though I always hoped he would meet the worst of ends.
Your tendentious account of practically everything on these forums shows that your opinion is, at best, a misanthropic appraisal of all that's even remotely smiled upon by the commonality at large. You are, in a word, a cynic--not an intellectual. You're just as bad as the people you look down upon; sure, you may dislike when everyone agrees with every choice of the author in a series (like you do with Conan fans), but you're just as bad as they are by approaching entertainment (and, I suspect, life) with this inexorable bitterness you wear on your sleeve so often. After reading so many of your posts, I have to say that I may disagree with your assertion that you are no longer a "kid that needs guidance," but that's a discussion for another time.
I'll check back later today and expect for a few examples of analogous shows that you consider to be thoroughly intellectual and void of any and all flaws that you've criticized other series for on the forums to date.

I think you're looking for some visual novels, not anime.Ocelot wrote: the viewers should at least have a chance to judge a character by their actions but in both series we are forced to support the main character. i'm not a kid anymore that needs guidance. i'm more than capable of judging other people, thank you very much death note/daxtar writers. :)
Or maybe a "pick your adventure" book.

Re: The Great Anime battle: Code Geass vs Death Note
I voted for Death Note. Primarily because it's the one I've seen, and also because the scenes were more realistic than Code Geass. Since most of the characters were normal persons in the current world, we can actually connect with these characters.

It'll be incredible if someone in this world connects with Kira or L xD - but i see your point
Code Geass, i thought i wouldn't like it, but being a fan of robots/mecha stuff, i just can't resist loving this anime.
Not that i hate Death Note though.

Light was the antagonist... To mindlessly support him simply because he is the main character is a little childish. The point of the series is to question your morals. That is why you are presented with different sides of the story. You can think about what you would do in either situation.

Nani?! Death Note doesn't really have a "good side" either. Sure Light is killing criminals, but no one should be above the law and, of course, its murder. Murder is bad.Soreiyu wrote: Light was the antagonist... To mindlessly support him simply because he is the main character is a little childish. The point of the series is to question your morals. The difference between Death Note and Code Geass is the fact that there was no real good guy side in Code Geass. Both sides had a fair amount of flaws.
L wasn't any better either, he went to extreme measures to prove his theories, even contemplating on testing the Notebook to see if it works/followed the rules, therefore killing someone.
