Five years ago today, something happened that made me emotionally sensitive to the issue of health care reform in the US.

Back in November 2007, a 17-year-old girl who I'll refer to as "Jane" (it pains me emotionally to mention her real name) received a bone marrow transplant in response to leukemia. That soon led to complications resulting in liver failure. A transplant organ was prepared and ready, but inexplicably, Jane's health insurer denied coverage for the liver transplant because it was considered by them as experimental - despite very good prognoses of survival by Jane's doctors. Eventually, after some intense lobbying by various people, the insurer finally capitulated. By then, however, Jane's condition had deteriorated to the point where she was removed from life support, and she died several hours later - exactly five years ago today.

To this day, whenever I hear about the topic of health care reform, I am reminded of this tragedy.

That is such utter bollocks. This is why health care should not be at the mercy of insurers, or at least not essential lifesaving surgeries. I am so sorry for you and the other friends and family of "Jane", and you all have my deepest condolences for this needless tragedy.

Someday to get a period on T__T
Had to go to school and be pissed of for 40 minutes because they wanted us to waste our time on absolutely nothing but eating some gingerbread, saffron buns and drink julmust (I don't like julmust but they gave me a glass anyway!!!) >:(
And... And I'm going to have to sit on a train from 18 until 10.10 D: Plus it's probably going to be late...
I don't want my period today D:

Today isn't a good day at my house. Archi is home sick from work and hasn't been able to eat anything in over 24 hours because he isn't sure his stomache will accept it. I am still battling cold/migraine/upset tummy/whatever-the-heck-this-is. ~_~* Not a good day.
I have finally started to actually publish my story! For the moment, expect a new chapter each month.

The Case of the Midnight Channel
"When a strange letter summons the Mouri family to Inaba, Ran is expecting a case. She's not expecting it to involve the TV, though.
If Naoto investigated everyone who came to visit Inaba, she'd have little time for real cases. When Yukiko reports that the Midnight Channel is back, however, she starts to wonder if the visitors are connected. Especially when the image clears, unveiling yet another mystery."

Short version: I'm taking various DC/MK characters to Inaba (where Persona 4 takes place) and dropping them through the TV to face their Shadows!

-30 C outside, and something happened to the air vent in the entrance at work. And when people shop for christmas the doors are open almost all of the time which means that the indoor temperature drops. So today we've had about 11-15 C at work. Image

Everybody's sick, huh? ~_~*
I am missing out on gaming AGAIN today because of a combination of headaches and stomach issues. It's almost like I have a hangover except a) I don't get hangovers, and b) the strongest things I had to drink last night were tea and Pepsi. I probably managed to catch whatever it was that kept Archi home yesterday. ~_~*

And I STILL have a ton of things I need to get done for xmas. Maybe after it's dark I can at least finish cutting things out for the cozies. I have 4 more to finish by Monday night for Tuesday delivery, 2 still need their interfacing cut out and two just need elastic and button. Then I have one that's all cut out and needs to be ready for next Saturday, and three incomplete projects that need to be done for the 1st.

:( I just spoke to my mom. She told me that my uncle (her big brother) is doing really bad, his leukemia is so bad, that doctors took him off medication. There's nothing else to do. He's feeling weak, and can barely do stuff anymore, he's just too tired.
I'm just so sad, because i'm really far away, and now i know that i'm surely never going to see him again.
I can't even be there to confort my mom, because even though she makes herself appear strong and ok on the telephone, I know her, and she is not ok, she's sad.

This years christmas is over for me. I spend two damn months practising christmas songs on guitar, not because I wanted to, because momtold me that it would be great. So i started playing and all she had to say 'that would sound better if you had a teacher' - i am done with this. There i go and try something nice because she had arought year and that's what i get for a reward? If that is how it works nowadays i am out. I need more beer now ...

I have a bruise the size of my hand and that is just one of my bruises, I blame my mother's bad genes for this :V And I am constantly tired no matter how much or how little I sleep.
