Ran is important, she´s the love interest from the mainhero, but that´s it and her main point in the story in my eyes. And i don´t think that Ran was/is his one and only reason he wants to return to be Shinichi.^^

The main reason But the first sentence pretty much covers everything that is needed to be said. Of course Ran is important, it´s just that not every character can suddenly have some deep relation to the BO (that would kind of annoying after some time). Finding Ran or her role in the story interesting or not is up to preferences.

But maybe the BO decides (whatever reason, maybe cause of Bourbon or smoething like that) to take Ran as a hostage to be able to treat Conan and the other. And then Conan has the problem to save Ran wihtout being exposed.
Could happen, but usually the BO kills and talk less. XD

Well,in the lockers case, Conan had a great plan. Only insane people would start looking inside the lockers and Gin in a moment of insanity
I agree that some Conan plans weren't great, for example when he and Agassa when to that cottage and talked to Vodka(same episode as the lockers?, can't remember, I need a new memory for Conan ), but afterwards like in episode 345 or the Clash of Red and Black, Conan's plan were(I think) almost perfect plans

You think so? yeah it seemed like a great plan till Gin showed up and destroyed it instantly without even knowing the full details Vodka knew. If it was just a Conan vs. Vodka, it would have been a great plan but Conan messed up from the start by not taking Gin's presence into account. And I'm not trying to say anyone could of done better, since even as the viewer you were made to forget about Gin till he showed up(I bet 80% of the DC fan base shrieked like school girls at this part).

As for the rest of the plans(people are going to accuse me of trashing Conan now, ) they were good & bad plans. The vermouth showdown was a bad plan because (I can say all of this hindsight been 20/20 of course  )

Conan didn't calculate Haibara properly. He thought locking her up would remove her from the danger which was an error on his part. If Heiji calculated how Haibara would act(and he even wasn't full aware of all the events) so Conan should of seen this coming from the start. Second error was not calling his plan off when Jodie got involved and assumed joining his plan to hers would workout better, that just sent everything into shit storm city. Third error was assuming his weak plan would work. His original plan was to get captured, get taken to a higher up and dismantle from the inside but what if Vermouth never realized he wasn't Ai until she ordered Calvados to snipe, set-up an exchange with Gin, or handed him over to another member? In all these scenarios Conan results in a dead body without Vermouth being able to help because it's too late by then. Not to mention his triumph card was Agasa recordings(in exchange for his life) which the B.O. could bury easily. So he basically overestimated himself & underestimated everyone else when he was making this plan but it did for an awesome case.

The hospital plan was a great one but Akai was co-operator in that one and the Kir plan was also good considering he was working on the fly with that one but a few things could of been handled better.

What i think is that Conan KNOWS what the BO is capable of, he even knows a majority of the things Haibara is hiding. My evidence is episode 345,the way he confronted Vermouth(although he was a little reckless,he knew what he was doing).

Considering how he reacted when Haibara told him she already knew the number, I doubt he knows all she knows. I speculate that if Conan got his hands on all the B.O. knowledge Haibara has, he would have enough to set-up a frontal assault strike plan with the help of the FBI but his personality would blur the actual success rate of his plan without him knowing it. In the same token, Conan isn't a idiot, he knows that Haibara is keeping from him and is smart/understanding enough to know he can't force it out of her which is why he's working with past member Akai and have Kir as an informant.

...But history as always shown us that even if all the evidence points to Conan being 5 steps behind it always ends with him actually being 20 ahead..so you never know. .

i have the feeling that i already answered to that question in an other thread
so i will may repeat what some people said:

Yes Ran is important to the story,she's a major character from the begining ,even without being involved in the BO !conan want to return to his real body mostly for her(it's not the only reason,like James said,but it's one of the main reason)

But we have to admit that her role(damsel in distress a lot of times,always crying for shinichi...) have became really annoying for some people(including me ) !

ok she has a lot of  qualities(i used to like her a lot in the past ) but i haven't see a deep  evolution in her personality,which is required for a long serie like DC,or else people will be bored by her! that's logical that after 65 vol,some people will find her unimportant or uninteresting to the story!

i don't want her to be too involved in the BO(it would be useless for me),but i would like to see her in a different role than only the D.I.D,or the "main love interest"!

(ok now i  will hide under my table in case  some Ran fans would be angry XD)

Actually, that's the hook... Since with the normal cases, it'll be solve with the amount of evidence that the author shows us, however, with the "secxret planning operation" we wouldn't know what's going on behind doors... which will make a great hook ^_^

She ısnt ımportant? She ıs one of the maın characters.. She ıs the reason why shınıchı wants to grow up..I thınk that she ıs ımportant.. Why dıd thıs all happen? Because Shınıchı went wıth ran to the (I dont know the englısh word but u know what ı mean to the parc). Why? Because of Ran. So thıs all happend because of ran and he wants to be shınıchı agaın becuse of ran.. So ısnt she ımportant enough for the story? does she have to be shrunken to be ımportant? Or does she have to be ın a connectıon wıth the bo? (although she has a connectıon to vermouth because vermouth loves her!)

Ran as a reason came after he knows she´s in love with him (and that he´s practically safe when he confess to her later 8) ).

Debates can get heated, there is nothing wrong with your opinion.

My personal opinion is with or without Ran, Shinichi would''ve found the BO anyway. The story didn't need to have Ran in it to begin or continue. She is important as Shinichi's lover at this point, which isn't very important. She only does the things she does for Shinichi's sake. Shinichi not only wants to get back to being Shinichi because of Ran, but to also solve cases the way he used to...and get credit for them. As a child it isn't easy for people to believe him....Vermouth likes her, but really, Ran is not involved with the BO. They don't even know her name. She is a main character, which I find surprising, because she is the least important character. She has importance, but the least of others who are supposedly not main characters.....she just doesn't fit in the world of DC. It's like all of these people who are involved in solving cases (detectives, police force, scientists, and criminals) and then here are some girls who.....talk about boys all day. I mean, don't you think that puts them out of touch with the DC world? And it makes them seem less important than everyone else.

It's like having a black tie affair, and three people show up in red..........
