Having played both the PW and PL series, I say they are great. The PL series has an edge over the PW series when it comes to making the player use brain power as the PL is really a lot of good puzzles tied together with a decent story while the PW series is more about collecting evidence, organizing it, and presenting it at the right time while seeing through lies.

With that said, PW destroys PL in the story department. Maybe is just me but when a new PW rolls around, I LOSE SLEEP because I have to keep playing to finish a case. The way PW cases are told, they grab you and you really can't stop until you have found all the pieces and figured out the puzzle(except that one case each PW game has where the story seems to slowdown and the investigation seems to drag on).

sounds about right. But yeah, PW story is awesome. While PL story is also entertaining, it's very flat/predictable and there really isn't a whole lot of it.
