^Amen to that.
I already forgot what this series is all about: basically, a highschool detective trying to get back his normal self while solving cases on the way. Thanks to you I've been reminded. XD

Admittedly, forgot about that too... although he seems to have taken on the extra mission of taking down a whole underground criminal organisation along the way!!

I think in the past Gosho did better at combining both plot advancement and character development in the same case. but a lot of things are just more convoluted now and i think it's more difficult for things like that to come together so organically. I think generally plot + Heiji, or any other friendly characters, is a yes please. :)

Someone earlier pointed out that Ran is supposed to be bada$$ - I agree, she seems to have become a lot more meek/mild than at the start of the series, imo. I feel like we are losing her personality just a little bit!

but at the end of the day, I still trust Gosho to deliver some good moments and clever ideas... I mean, I don't think the earliest tricks/deductions were perfect either, but what I expect as a reader is to at least be exposed to a new idea and be like "Wow, that's true, I never noticed that / thought of that" - which is the same appeal as the Sherlock Holmes stories too.
"Shh! Celebrate after the curtain of this bloody stage closes."
