@Yuri
The thing is that this isn't even the first time they've tried something like this (the thing with Ellen, their track record with having YouTube videos taken down). The thing with Ellen especially seems to imply that "trademarking their format" is misrepresenting things, given the Ellen thing was nothing like their vids and they still took issue with it. Reaction videos have been around for a long time in any case. You could argue pre-Internet even. So trying to essentially act as though they're doing people a favour by pushing them into a position then taking a cut of their potential money and creative freedoms with regards to those videos is odd, to say the least. I mean, you have to get written permission to post that "style" of video outside of YouTube.
Like, I know they say they're giving "tips" and such, and they're standardising things (which could be useful, idk) but is it worth it?
I'm honestly confused as to why they didn't realise that this would incite so much backlash.
What's your opinion on it? Genuinely curious here.
And there are a few more relevant quotations (they say the reason for being picky about external rights is that YouTube is ahead on copyright and trademark laws or something?) but I think I'll just leave the link here: http://www.finebrosent.com/reactworldfaq/
@Henry Gordan: This link has the gist of it, but to get the full picture you have to search around a bit so.
The video CGP Grey did. I don't know if you've seen the rest of the stuff posted on his channels but it tends to be... much more informational.Iwamoto Yuri wrote:How is this amusing? The question is if this'll all just die down or whether they'll take a permanent hit. They're currently down 170k-ish subscribers and losing them at a rate of around 70 a minute but they still have well over 13 million so idk.

Considering how much effort my videos can take sometimes, I can't imagine what it takes to make something that requires 100X more editing...

Re: What's on your mind?
I'm mostly tired of all the hate they get, and people reacting so immaturely, hateful and spiteful towards an idea they didn't really understand.
I've tried doing my research, and yes , Ellen is a thing, but that's just them being butt hurt over the thought of someone using a similar ideas in an evironmemt where a lot of things get stolen. I've seen people react the same (a friend who'd written a book about a zombie falling in love threw it in the trash after a movie with a similar plot was announced, and I've seen character designs floating around closely resembling mine). It's never fun to see, and it's clear to see they overreacted on some parts. That doesn't make them evil corporate basterds.
Not that it still matters anyway, they recalled their trademarks and stopped the react world concept before it could start properly.

I would agree except literally every single intelligent response makes it abundantly clear that this was corporate garbage that needed to die.Iwamoto Yuri wrote:I'm mostly tired of all the hate they get, and people reacting so immaturely, hateful and spiteful towards an idea they didn't really understand.

The last Land Rover Defender was produced today. Almost 68 years old journey comes to end. But in my honest opinion, it is quite awful to drive on road and nothing can turn my mind. But in off road it's in its own class.

Re: What's on your mind?
perhaps it was corporate, but garbage is a strong expression. I don't doubt they had good intentions in the first place. It's hard to unite people from different countries, so why not have them set up a react themselves?kkslider5552000 wrote:I would agree except literally every single intelligent response makes it abundantly clear that this was corporate garbage that needed to die.Iwamoto Yuri wrote:I'm mostly tired of all the hate they get, and people reacting so immaturely, hateful and spiteful towards an idea they didn't really understand.

The problem with the Fine Bros. is that people didn't seem to understand what they planned to do because they explained it badly.Iwamoto Yuri wrote:Not that it still matters anyway, they recalled their trademarks and stopped the react world concept before it could start properly.

At this point, I feel like I should never watch the movie Groundhog Day, unless it is Groundhog Day.

Re: What's on your mind?
Having channels with the same type of content in all types of languages is hardly a bad idea, considering people wanted a world react so badly (and them doing that themselves is almost impossible).Jecka wrote:The problem with the Fine Bros. is that people didn't seem to understand what they planned to do because they explained it badly.Iwamoto Yuri wrote:Not that it still matters anyway, they recalled their trademarks and stopped the react world concept before it could start properly.

2016 is looking pretty depressing so far
Edit: Uhhhh so apparently Dave Mirra and Bob Elliott also passed away. Dave's was apparently suicide, and Bob was 92, but STILL seriously stop.

I feel like the past 2 seasons A1 has been giving the middle finger to everyone making assumptions about them because they did SAO.
