I do not hate Camel at all, because he is an adult and I don't hate on adults who make mistakes, that's what they do in DC, else Conan don't get to come in and save them all. I hate Kids that think they are better than Conan (Mitsuhiko dropped that after Mushroom and Bear so I am fine with him now), which Genta clearly does as he still proclaim himself the "Leader".El Huesudo II wrote: If Genta deserved hate for being stupid, then Andre Camel would deserve it much more, then. I mean, his mistake pretty much caused almost everything bad that's happening on the plot right now. Had he not opened his big mouth... who knows? Maybe Akai would still be an insider? Maybe Akemi wouldn't have had to die? Maybe Kir wouldn't be suspected of treason? Maybe Bourbon wouldn't have been activated? I mean, his little mess-up is the gift that keeps on giving. But do people hate him for that? Not that I know of. Hell, I like the guy, he's sorta funny.

Re: The Detective Boys squad, and why people seem to hate th
I think maybe the lack of character development for the DB kids might be an issue for some people. They never change. And that's what i think might be annoying a few people.
Remember how Genta impulsively act many times out of sheer hunger. That never changes and he doesn't learn from past cases to be wary of a few things (I could be wrong about this so if you could give an example that would be nice).
Ayumi also never confronts Conan about her crush, though to be fair she is still a kid so fair enough and same goes for Mitsuhiko.
To me I don't really mind them, in the end we all know that all will be well when a case with them appears. It's just a matter of how and that's what i think their cases are.

I only hate them when they are annoying and unnecessary. There's been less of that in the past couple of years. Good.

Granted, it wasn't exactly a positive topic...

A disdain for genta also probably goes back to how he thinks he's the leader of the DB despite being among the least 2 capable.

people who are 13-25 (90% people on this forum) or so have a serious disdain for 'kids'.

IMO that's supposed to be played for comedy. Later on in the series, Genta is generally seen calling himself "leader" while at the same time he's following Conan's plan (like in the parade bombing case).ProfParanoia wrote: A disdain for genta also probably goes back to how he thinks he's the leader of the DB despite being among the least 2 capable.
And currently, I don't recall Genta claiming to be the leader anymore, he just goes with the flow.

well mainly because they are feel out of place consider how bloody the series is.
not to mention we have family that is very famous, a family that good at martial art. Japan Police department. super secret powerful evil organisation, CIA, FBI,......
then we have group of "normal" kids

As I said, they're Conan (and Haibara)'s anchor to normalcy. As well as part of their cover.rrizqiw wrote: well mainly because they are feel out of place consider how bloody the series is.

And without them, we'd have other characters with potential turning into "just comic relief". See: what Takagi almost became.
I rather hate Yamamura. If there's a useless hack in the show, it's him. You could cut him out of the show and nothing would change; on the other hand, his quirks are pretty annoying. Hell, even Kogoro goes Conan-style deadpan in his presence. That says something about Yamamura, don't you think?

Re: The Detective Boys squad, and why people seem to hate th
I do want DB case that is more "realistic" for their age like solving puzzle (like Mirror puzzle case and Agasa lost love) instead having them to solve bloody murder mystery. it just out of place.
my sugestion to gosho is to make case that "realistic" to DB but at same time it have connection to BO.
Yamamura maybe annoying but i found him more "useful" than DB in context what he doing.
i always think Yamamura is what happens if Police let Conan do what ever he want instead keep blocking him do whatever he want since he is to young (like megure).
basically he fell fresh since he silly not serious type police compare to overly serious type police

Re: The Detective Boys squad, and why people seem to hate th
The police already lets Conan do as he pleases, though. Megure has warmed up to Conan lately (especially if Conan drops the "Shinichi-niichan's idea" line); Takagi actively lets him consult since the bomber case, only keeping appearances when in presence of other people; Shiratori has always taken him in consideration, and so does Nakamori in Kid cases; Heizo sort of recognizes him as Heiji's partner; Kansuke even asked for his help on a case (AND KOGORO REALIZED THIS, GASP); Jugo's all "nah, can't be" but still lets him investigate; Yuminaga cooperates with him completely...
Yeah. Conan already has the police force wrapped around his finger. Hell, he gives them orders and they follow them. What the hell.

Re: The Detective Boys squad, and why people seem to hate th
I think this has been asked countless times and I'll stand by what I said last time -- I don't really hate them but they can be annoying in the sense that they usually add insult to injury in the cases, especially the earlier ones. For example, they are being chased by the murderer and they have to keep quiet and one of them usually bumps over a vase or something. Or usually they run off and they get lost and that's how the case starts. But without these careless things, there wouldn't be a case or it wouldn't have that suspense factor, I guess.
And I think in the recent cases, they learned to be more careful and are more cooperative and less whiny.
But I also think these kids would/should be psychologically disturbed by now, with the amount of murder they've encountered.

Just between us since it's non-canon, but Genta does pretty well in the DS games. He's usually the culprit-chaser when Conan is not around, like when Ai is kidnapped.
