Re: Random: Languages?
I'm Indian so the following list is going to look really weird:
Fluent in: English, Tamil
Half-fluent in: Japanese (can only read Kana and Hiragana, though. I have been learning the language for a few years)
I also know: Spanish (not so much) , French (quite well) , Hindi (meh), and a few Indian spoken languages
I really do want to learn German, Latin, Greek and Italian. I don't know why. Oh, and I also want to learn Chinese someday.

Re: Random: Languages?
I'm from the Philippines, so I speak Filipino language (Tagalog). I'm also good at English and in vernaculars. I know Ilocano and Ibaloi (languages from a northern Philippine Region) and a bit of Visayan (from a mid-south region).
*Here's a trivia: Philippines is the country with the most vernacular languages.
*
I can also understand and speak Japanese (learned from watching anime, surprisingly enough), but I can't read Japanese (cause the kana in manga dialogues are covered by English translations). I was actually able to talk to a Japanese, but just for a while, because when he asked me questions I didn't understand, I replied to him in English
. Good thing he understood.

Re: Random: Languages?
I'm German, so my native language is German. I learned English in school and because I used to watch English fansubs and hung around on English speaking websites and forums, I think my English became pretty good (well, at least it's better now then my school English back then).
I also learned French in school but I can't speak or understand even a single senctence.
I'm able to understand a bit written Dutch. I wish I could have learned Dutch in school instead of French.
Oh, and I wish I could speak Japanese and (for some strange reason) Swedish.
Icelandic would be nice too. I kinda like that language.

lol, look at manga chapter 652!rajhaziel wrote: Tsurugi!!! Why arent you translating!!! Why do I but you dont? Oh well it's alright. I dont translate anymore. My japanese sucks btw. But anyway, I don't because I'm still not at a level where I'm proficient enough to go through and translate something well. People deserve better than something translated by someone with basic knowledge of the language, there are already plenty of fansubs like that out there. I hate people who just watch anime and think they know the language... it's a LITTLE more intricate than what you hear there. Good luck in Japan... I had to deal with too many idiots like that on my trip there
If it's written I can manage well, and I have decent listening skills... but when they start speaking in slang and use grammatical structures I'm not familiar with, my listening comprehension drops rapidly. That's only natural though, with only having studied for just over a year and a half and not being immersed in the language. I'll improve in that aspect much more quickly when I move to Japan

Re: Random: Languages?
I would like to slap anyone who says they can fluent speak Japanese cause they watch anime... Have you actually heard how fast a Japanese person actually talks? LMAO!!! I would die from talking to someone if he/she spoke as fast as Conan does in the gimmick at the end of the episodes.
