Shinichi and Katio are long lost twins, but their parents are Kuroba Touchi and Kudo Yukiko.

Eri's children are Ran (with Kogoro) and Aoko (with Nakamori Ginzo).

Ahh.. that's why Kogoro and Nakamori Ginzo can't stand each other. Come to think of it, they share that petite moustache. Eri must really digg that. 

I say Yukiko had been fooling around with Kuroba Toichi during the "magic' lessons because Yuusaku is sterile. This is what brought life to the long lost twins, Shinichi and Kaitou. The latter being left with the magician because he's got more spunk (at least, his hair does). This also explains why Shinichi/Conan shows magical prowess such as jumping from tree to tree in the Shiragami case and flying from the DB's speedboat to the culprit's speedboat in Movie 9

Vermouth, who had also been attending the magic lessons for future disguising purposes, fell in love with Kuroba Toichi. And even though Shinichi is Toichi's son from her friend Yukiko, she can't help but protect Conan.
