Her role has stagnated in recent years and that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon. I am of the opinion that it will by the end of the series as the character itself is not done and does possess potential, but she is--without question--on the backburner and has been for a number of years now (since the 300s?).

As such... yesh, I can see why people aren't big fans right now.

that doesn't really explain "least favorite". If anything, being dissappointed she isn't doing anything means you would kinda have to like the character.

I don't think that's a reason to say she's someone least favorite character, because she was, at one point, a very deep and interesting character w/ arguably the strongest character development.  If anything the hatred shouldn't be at the character herself but more towards Gosho's decision to put Haibara as eternal babysitter.

Other characters that have been static and haven't shown any change over time, for example: Kogorou (while I like him), you can dislike him for being who he is; he wasn't a different character at any point in the series.

Sure it does. People aren't objective thinkers with their fandoms--if their dissatisfaction with the current state of an ongoing series outweighs their love for the "better days", it doesn't really matter how much they liked a certain character in the beginning. Someone may have liked Kid in episode 76 and, by the 500s, wish he would never show up again and may have voted him here. Seeing a character "evolve" into a state you are dissatisfied with is ample reason to label them your least favorite at the time of polling.

The real question is: Can you figure out who I voted?

My concern is, pretty simply: Why does it matter if she's someone's least favorite character? I like the Yokomizo brothers, but when someone says they dislike them, I don't wind up the hate machine. Back on topic--I would say she definitely was the strongest in my view in terms of potential development and such, so I'd agree there. The only thing is that Gosho kind of tapped that well until it dried (at least for his intended purpose of her). After she became a staple, she couldn't really be changed too much without it affecting the "usual" files (I'll get back to this in the next paragraph). All of that aside, you can't really deny that maybe--just maybe--there are those that never liked her character to begin with. You know, people that honestly just didn't care for her entire backstory, her attitude, or her showing up at Agasa's all shrunk and business. For all the reasons you like her, someone else could dislike her and be totally right since it's simply their opinion.

Someone could definitely, rightfully vote Kogorou in these polls, but they aren't likely to (judging from the results, that does seem to be an accurate assessment). The reason being that he is a very inoffensive character--he doesn't really presume upon the viewer or come off the "wrong way" in many situations. His role (as you said) hasn't changed, which is mostly because Gosho doesn't do major changes to core characters (it'd affect the fillers). Apart from the occasional Eri case, his role is very defined and isn't really one that can be disliked to any great extent.

Basically, for some characters, time changes things. If Kid had only showed up in episode 76, I guarantee you he'd have a lot less "least favorite" votes up there, despite the fact his character has not really changed whatsoever--we've just seen way too much of it.

Gotta admit, with the exception of the bandaged man case, I can't stand to watch anything before haibara anymore

Also, gotta agree with Jd- about Kid, he's around way too much and kid fans...ugh....

I wouldn't mind Kid so much, if the cases he were involved in didn't have such a strong tendency to be lame. Dishonorable mention of sorts to Yusaku, simply because he does the same thing every time and it isn't a very interesting shtick.

I voted Haibara for exactly the reason I just quoted. :P

Yes, there is. Especially when all the episodes he is in have the same ending. They could arrest him at least once and then make him escape from jail.

I will truthfully say that im not a fan of DC since it's beginning. It was a on/off fandom, but these 600+ episodes in 15 years (plus the OVAs, movies, specials etc) IMO, I've loved all the characters, they all have their own roles for specific purposes and that what made Detective Conan "Detective Conan", I don't know, I just perfectly love this series but I must admit that there are slow-character-developments but I really don't care cause there are more something to look for in this, regardless of each character's development.

I voted for Okino Yoko, because I really don't have a least favorite character.
and.. I agree with what Jd- had said.

^ same here

I don't hate any character. But basically, I don't mind whether Ai appears in a episode or not D: (but if she appears, some fans are quite annoying about it...)

I also agree with Jd- (besides the Kid thing. I don't mind Kid either. He may show up every episode if he wants XD)
