Well, to give him some credit, when you're already in Europe it's not that far anymore. But I doubt that Ran and Kogoro will go along with a trip to Scotland and Switzerland just because.
I don't the lady and Kogoro knew each other before. She seemed surprised Kogoro was a detective.
I had a gut feeling that you need Cockney rhyming slang to solve the riddle. The first line reminded me that you need to be born in earshot of the Bow Bells to be considered a proper Cockney. Unfortunately this trail didn't lead anywhere.
Another theory I'm entertaining is that this is specifically intended for Conan. The line rings for my hatred made me think of the boss, who sends his orders out as texts. The line long-nosed wizard in a castle might be a hint that the boss is European (Elena Miyano), a scientist (Elena?) and living in Karasuma's mansion. But I can't make heads or tails of all that foodstuff....

Yes, he has said that this arc will contain ShinxRan.

I have now idea, it was in the Conan Fan Book which is several years old. It's definitely authentic. Some people suspected the case in London will be the finale of the series, he denied that and said it will be important for the relationship between Shinichi and Ran.

I think you guys are over thinking it. I mean sure Ai can have a hidden agenda for giving him the pills I guess that is a possibility, but it also can be as simple as: She knows how much he loves holmes + She cares about him = I will let you go as Kudo Shinichi under some conditions.

Please, stop saying nonsense... Ran isn't my favourite character, I actually think that Gosho could make more interesting girl for Shinichi, but we ALL know that Shiho isn't THAT girl. The love tringle suddenly disappeared a long time ago, Ai gave up on Shinichi and they're just friends now.

Ran can't die, because ShinxRan fans would kill Gosho. Besides, Ran is kind of Gosho's dream girl, so he won't kill his own vision of pure, innocent love. As I remember, he even said once that ShinxRan is his favourite couple, so why he would destroy it? Just to shock us? Come on! We all know that isn't that kind of person who loves depressing endings, I bet Shinichi and Ran will be together and they will be happy ever after. The end. In normal life it's not so obvious, but as I see, Gosho needs simple endings like in fairy tales.

BUT! It doesn't mean that Ran can't be involved in a dangerous situations or even be hurt! I guess it could be a strong reason for Shinichi to change himself too.
