Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
this topic is silly
if ratings are anything like in America, than the ratings for everything have gone down.

first, thank you for spending your time is this complete reply ^^Prince Trom wrote: ANN usually lists the TV rankings (Kanto area) for anime broadcasts each week, you can check them out there (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com). Of course the old stand-by's of Sazae-san, Chibi Maruko-chan, Doraemon, and Shin-chan lead the list, but Conan frequently gets the coveted 5th spot.
As for broadcast schedules, you're on your own there. It would basically depend on where you are located, and what your local broadcasters are. Of course, broadcast is in Japan only.
And yes, I was referring to the "Fall Mystery Special" digital-remastered broadcasts they did last year in September.
so, conan ratings are NOT so bad at all... i really had no idea about japan ratings but i thought you would list one piece, macross frontier, geass r2, as some top examples. heh

Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
Well, the more anime there is now, the less popularity DC gets; at least it still got on top 5
A question anyway: Do international ratings affect the airing of DC by chance?

Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
It's really not that Conan's ratings are bad by normal standards, it's that they simply aren't as good as they once were. The show also airs many fewer new episodes than it once did, thus losing a bit of market share. To put that into perspective (and this is all off the top of my head, I'm afraid, as I'm too busy to look any of this up): Conan used to have about 20% of the ratings, as far back as 2000. It also used to air around 45-50 episodes a year, and now is lucky to hit 25-30.

about releases, you could check miyano's web:

in 2008, 24 episodes and counting... will we reach 2007's 31?

i don't think so... i have only known of one tv series (not even anime) to have been kept on air because of its broadcast rights and merchandising sales all around the world! (the x-files in the 90s.... yea, offtopic infoyume_no_meitantei wrote: A question anyway: Do international ratings affect the airing of DC by chance?

Xoph, in Japan most of the people that watchs anime are childs, and many shows like Doraemon and Sazae-san (which are REALLY old, like 40 years each) are being by little boys and their parents, and that's a big reason why they are always top ranked. Code Geass and Macross Frontier are more pointed to anime active users/otakusxoph wrote:first, thank you for spending your time is this complete reply ^^Prince Trom wrote: ANN usually lists the TV rankings (Kanto area) for anime broadcasts each week, you can check them out there (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com). Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
I just hope DC won't end up like Ranma 1/2. Having the anime finished first than the manga and the manga still went a long way before the official ending of the story...
Of course, that won't happen to DC!!! At least I hope not

A better example of a shitty anime ending is Eyeshield 21. Damn, why did they end that too early?kat1214young wrote: I just hope DC won't end up like Ranma 1/2. Having the anime finished first than the manga and the manga still went a long way before the official ending of the story...

Though a shittier anime ending would be that of Inuyasha.
I just hope DC doesn't end in a sucky way and ends in the same way as the manga

Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
Oh no!! I'll hate them if they do that!!
I've also noticed that the waiting time between episodes is getting longer (the next Kid special is the end of this month).. But I think they should realise that DC has a big group of international fans, so if they should decide to stop broadcasting in Japan, then they better have a good licensing & distribution plan so that all fans from around the world will still be able to continue watching! NO! That won't happen!
I'm not making sense myself... Sorry about my own rumblings. If they should stop broadcasting abruptly, then that means the show will get a shitty anime ending like Inuyasha! And we'll have to depend on the manga to follow the story. That means the manga has to be well translated and distributed internationally. I'm not a manga-fan myself, but I guess everyone has to make do, right?
But then again, please don't get cancelled!
(Sorry if you guys are still reading all my crap ^^;)

Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
It's just too bad that international fans won't affect the release of DC in any way
If Japan doesn't care about DC anymore, then it's over
But it's just like saying that Naruto Shippuuden (w/c has a lower rating than DC in Japan) will have to end as well (won't happen, I guess), so don't worry. DC'll seem to last till the end
And about the ratings... maybe it's just there are a lot more anime choices compared to the past, so DC's ratings decreased, and maybe also w/the population increase, where kids get oriented to other genres of anime...
And I can't believe Doraemon got a higher rating
Or maybe it's just proof that young kids (6 to 7-ish) make up a high percentage of anime watchers, and DC just happened to be for more mature audiences... Don't know, really

Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
I think this arises another question, how does Conan get financed?? The thing is that I feel that Conan has only two ways to be merchandised. Anime and Manga, while other shows, like Macross F and Code Geass have not only that but a huge toy, dvd and cd market and even if the shows weren't into the top 10 they still make money out of toys, cd's and dvd's, all 4 Macross F cd's have made it to the top 5 sellers in Japan that is the first time that an anime show cd is in the top 5 in I think 15 or so years, so that's why I wonder how it gets financed I really don't think that Conan is gonna be cancelled, but I don't see a huge toy or dvd ( I have all of the Cd's so I won't mention the cd Market ^_^) market for Conan toys, heck!! even Saint Seiya which is not so popular in Japan like it is overseas it still alive just because of the toys ^_^Wishy wrote:Xoph, in Japan most of the people that watchs anime are childs, and many shows like Doraemon and Sazae-san (which are REALLY old, like 40 years each) are being by little boys and their parents, and that's a big reason why they are always top ranked. .
My point is that ratings mean a lot to Conan if they are not excellent ratings they are worried, even if it makes it in the top ten every week, they probably want the show to be top 3 every week to be happy. This is, of course, just a thought, and in no way represents the thoughts of the people that make Conan.

Re: Detective Conan getting cancelled in Japan?...
Well, Conan has DVD sales too. How else do you think older episodes have raws? But as long as the show is popular enough to have people want to buy advertising space, it should be fine.

I know they do, I didn't mean they didn't have DVD sales at all I just think that they might be lower than other shows, but I still wonder what other venues they had to profit, more than anything the toys how come there are no Conan Collectibles Toys, I'd love to buy one like thisGinRei wrote: Well, Conan has DVD sales too. To prevent misinformation, Kaizou should have this thread locked.
As a matter of fact, DC was allowed to move up half an hour (7pm Mondays) recently, and there are always 10 weeks a year when it's not aired at all. That doesn't mean it's cancelled.
