Re: Air on the G String kidnapping case: (Files 728-730?): V
I probably have perfect pitch- I can pretty much always tell when something is off, my only problem is despite all of that, I haven't learned how to identify what the exact note is like Shinichi/Conan- I've never been good when it came to naming notes, yet, I always understood what the teacher meant more then my fellow classmates growing up. I'm a tad backwards in that area. (This also means I don't read sheet music the same way most musicians do. I know how to get to the note I'm looking at, but I've no idea what it is unless I base it off 'C'. x_x0 Drives my Choral teacher nuts and he says we should take basic Music theory/rudiments.. which really does make sense.)
However, I can see how Shinichi/Conan recognizes pitch and all, since he did/seldom play/'s violin, as well as the probability of Yuukiko teaching him music theories or...whatever. Ran did learn piano from her, so she has music knowledge.

Re: Air on the G String kidnapping case: (Files 728-730?)
There is a new poll out. The vote changing ability seems to have gone away when I edited the poll so unless a forum moderator fixes it, choose wisely.
Preliminary stuff which I am almost sure is wrong, but since I can't come up with better ideas so far I am stuck with this.
Timeline of the case
5:05: Agasa leaves with towing company
5:35: The kids head towards the villas. The rain starts.
6:00: The kids enter the villa house. Ayumi hears the music
Between 6 and 6:35: Conan and friends find the diary with the dry stain. The blackout occurs.
7:00: The kids notice they don't have their bags. They decide to search the house more thoroughly.
7:30: The kids circle the hallway once. Ayumi finds hot water and a picture on the floor that wasn't there thirty minutes ago.
8:00: Time the professor is supposed to arrive
The identity of the shadowperson:
The shadow person is likely the girl from the photograph. In the photo, the girl was at the piano. Ayumi noted the piano bench was set at the right height for her to play. I'm going to posit that someone playing in the dark with a maladjusted bench would be liable to miss notes. Also the person would have to be familiar with the house in order to hide successfully from the detective boys and move about in the dark without getting lost as the shadow person has been shown to do. The girl is presumably one of the villa's residents so this should be within her capabilities. Also the actions of the shadow person make sense if it is a child. Blocking the door with a rolling cart that a single child could easily push away doesn't make sense. An adult could select a heavier object. The child appeared high up in the door's window probably because they were standing on the handle of the push cart. Why they did so in unknown. Perhaps the girl intended to frighten the DB.
Assuming the shadowperson is the girl, there is a contradiction within the diary. The diary specifically uses the word for "boy" (ボウヤ - Bouya (fixed per Abs.)) in the last entry. This entry is also in katakana instead of hiragana like the rest of the entry.
Notes about people in the house
Conan noticed that one person who has used the house is definitely neat. This person washed the dishes carefully, properly separated the garbage, and presumably removed the diary page because they removed the staples and then replaced the pages and refolded the staples rather than tear the page out. I am going to guess based on gender stereotypes this is the little girl's doing.
Another person inside the house is messy. They left a mess of the food in the kitchen and left behind a trail of potato chips. An adult doesn't seem like they would do this, but maybe there is another child: a younger boy perhaps?. If the girl read the diary entry and jumped to conclusions that someone meant to kill or hurt him like the DB did, perhaps she thought the boy was in danger and has hidden him somewhere which would explain her weird behavior so far. It may also explain the diary entries about talents born in the same era.
There is probably one adult in the house as well. There was a single glass of wine which suggests a single adult. A child would not pour a glass of wine for themselves. Also children would not stay in the villa by themselves for over one year. I'm not sure where the adult is currently.
One of the children, probably the girl, intends to boil the bamboo shoots the DB collected evidenced by their bags containing the shoots missing and fresh hot water on the floor.
The stain in the diary
Per Conan's deduction about the wine and the rain, the writing in the diary is one year old exactly as Abs. suggested earlier. The use of metaphor and the kanji suggest an adult rather than a kid wrote the journal.
The pages of the diary already had writing on them when the spilled wine stuck the pages together meaning that the entry had already been penned before the wine spill. If the wine spill is dry, then it must mean the spill occurred at least an hour prior to Conan's arrival, but it didn't start raining until 5:35. Conan noted it hadn't been an hour since the rain started and the wine stain wouldn't have dried by then. The diary entry for the 24th shouldn't say it was raining yet. It doesn't make sense for the diary's writer to write over a wet page. The only logical conclusion is that the diary entry is a year old, and the wine spill was either done recently or a year ago. I'm favoring that it was done recently since it is likely the wine was placed on the table at the same time the food was and since the food isn't a nasty moldy mess, it should be recent.
Also, Conan noted the stains are near but not exact mirror images, meaning the spill was done on one page and then the diary was closed, transferring the spill to the other page. Conan then noticed it was wet once again. Earlier, when the girl wasn't around, the boy spilled the wine in the diary while making the map and shut it. Later after it had dried, the girl went back to get the map for the boy and neatly pried apart the staples and began removing pages to get to the map. In the process she noted the diary, read it, then peeled apart the stained pages to finish reading it. Presumably she took it as a threat like the DB did. She then removed the one page so the writer of the diary wouldn't know about the map and thus that she/the boy had read it, reapplied wine and stuck the pages back together again so it was how she found it.
The contradiction between the diary dates and the entries...
One stapled page of the diary was removed, presumably by the child who plays Monster Getter 3 taking the map out of the book for reference. By taking out the staples instead of tearing just the one page with map out of the diary two pages of the diary were removed instead of just one. That would probably explain the contradiction Conan noticed with the date/ days to go. Since the diary seems to be read in western order, (Date on left facing page - that day's description on the right), the missing page will have day 20's entry and day 21 on its opposite side. The entry that is currently paired with day 20 is actually supposed to go with day 21.
Thus the diary so far is supposed to read like this...
#1. March 20th, Sunny
#2. March 20's entry (page missing)
#3. March 21st, (page missing)
#4. After I tried talking with him, he seems like a good kid… He smiles often and plays a lot… Now, I don’t know whether or not he understands the situation he’s in, being left alone but… The kid is also properly secured and will probably pass the days away… Anyway, there’s just two days left… Just have to hold on until then…
#5.March 22nd, Cloudy…
#6. Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven… Melodies that make the heart quiver… I envy those talents born of the same era… They’re not songs appropriate to play in this situation, but… I can forget the time… One more day, please let it pass without incident…(I'm ignoring the magical changing entry detail Abs. pointed out for now...)
#7. March 23rd, Rainy…
#8. Not good… It seems this kid somehow knows who I am… If this is revealed, it would be a hindrance in the future… It’s sad, but it looks like there’s no choice but to kill…
#9. March 24th, Rainy…
#10. Boy, sorry… Forgive me…
Misinterpretation
When Ayumi mentioned that she saw everyone leave in a panic looking for her she didn't say alert the others to her presence because she misinterpreted the others' actions and thought they were looking for the kid.
My guess is the piano girl in this case is doing the same and had misinterpreted the diary and the detective boy's actions which is why she hasn't said anything and is hiding from them. She may also be trying to frighten them away by playing the piano mysteriously and keep them from wandering freely by pushing a cart in front of the door and climbing on it to look like an adult. The cause for her fear may be what was written in the missing diary entry coupled with the coffin and shovel in the hallway. If she was the one who pulled the page out, she may have noticed her map had the writing on it and then read the rest of the entries. After peeling apart the stained pages which matched up once, she applied more wine to seal them back together as explained in an above section. When the DB came in she perhaps thought they intended to do bad things to her or the little boy with her. Was it because they barged in or because of something they said (like standalone pages in the beginning of the first chapter of this case)?
Miscellaneous things I am still confused about
•Who wrote the diary and what does it really mean? I assume the missing page will clear that up. Could it be about divorce maybe?
•Is the missing diary page with the other game maps?
•The diary specifically uses the word for "boy" (ボウヤ - Bouya {sounds like "boy-ya"}) in katakana instead of hiragana in the last entry. Why is that? - Abs. answered below.
•Why is there a coffin? - The shovel isn't dirty, so it hasn't been used.
•What is large box in background of family picture? see Abs. point below
•Why is there a rolling cart? To move the coffin?
•Why is the girl in the house alone with the little boy presumably with her? If there is an adult in the house as the wine suggests, where is this person now? If an adult leaves a house, wouldn't they lock the door? Why did the girl not lock the front door if she is frightened? - Since there are a trail of chips by the door, it stands to reason the little boy may have unlocked it while wandering and the girl didn't realize it was unlocked.
•Who brought the children to the villa? Probably an adult but who specifically? One of the parents in the photo is my guess, but I'm not sure which.
•Why is the adult setting for only one? The picture has two adults. Is there a reason that only one is there? Divorce?
•When was the game played? Probably recently, if not the current day.
•Why was the picture dropped in the hot water? What is the purpose for carrying it? - to hide it from the DB? The appearance of the girl may suggest she came around trying to retrieve it after noticing she dropped it.
•Why try to cook the D. boy's bamboo shoots if they are still wandering around and the girl thinks they may be bad?
Preliminary stuff which I am almost sure is wrong, but since I can't come up with better ideas so far I am stuck with this.

You had this down correctly in another portion of your post, but it's wrong here.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: The diary specifically uses the word for "boy" (ボウヤ - Bozu-ya) in the last entry. This entry is also in katakana instead of hiragana like the rest of the entry.
It is a word that is frequently written in katakana, so there's nothing particularly amiss about it being written in katakana.
Actually Conan notes that the stains are NOT exact mirror images of each other. This is how he can tell that it was wet twice.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: Also, Conan noted the stains in the diary are mirror images, meaning the spill was done on one page and then the diary was closed, transferring the spill to the other page. Since the spill occurred when the diary was open to that particular page, perhaps the entry frightened the reader which caused them to spill the wine on it and close it.
Please do. I believe it is an "art mistake" on par with the "cider/cola" debacle.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: (I'm ignoring the magical changing entry detail Abs. pointed out for now...)
I actually think it is Conan and the DB, led by Haibara's brand of "common sense" logic, that are misinterpreting things.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: Misinterpretation

Re: Air on the G String kidnapping case: (Files 728-730?): V
i havent read the second file because im waiting for the translation, but most of the things in the house seem to fit if it was a case of a child who has been left alone by an adult/parent... messing things up - the potato chips on the ground, the food on the table looking like it's been eaten by a dog, the spilled glass of wine.. maybe the adult left the villa for a while, and the child, left alone, neglected to lock the front door. then upon hearing unfamiliar people entering the house the kid got scared and attempted to trap them in the piano room. if the kid was really intending to cook the bamboo shoots, then maybe she's hungry, because the adult was taking longer than expected to return.
all this, of course, doesn't sit in with the diary entries and the coffin. the coffin in particular disturbs me because who likes to keep coffins in their mountain villa?? :S but if there was a kidnapped boy somewhere, it would make sense to also keep the little girl enclosed with him not leave her running around, when she can try to seek help. also, the adult who left the house wouldn't have forgotten to lock the front door.
i'll just wait for the translated file

Re: Air on the G String kidnapping case: (Files 728-730?): V
The owners likely took in a stray dog, but it was dying. The adult(s) didn't want to have the child see the dog die (and they were only going to be at the villa for a little while longer), but the child seemed to sense that something was up. So the adult(s) took the dog to a vet to have it be put down. The coffin is for the dog.
How's that? It doesn't explain the "rain" journal entry though.

yeah that was what I first thought too. but it doesn't explain with the portions of the diary that go "there's just two days left..." and "One more day, please let it pass without incident..." -- why is time running out? if the dog is dying, why does the person know exactly in how many days the dog will die? :S maybe like the DB, the people inside the villa were also stuck in the mountains, and there would only be people to pick them up in that number of days?Abs. wrote: The owners likely took in a stray dog, but it was dying. and then the weirdest part of the diary - "Not good… It seems this kid somehow knows who I am… If this is revealed, it would be a hindrance in the future…" ...nope, can't make much sense out of this.

Re: Air on the G String kidnapping case: (Files 728-730?): V
I think it's safe to say that there hasn't been an adult in the house the whole time the DB were in the villa. Conan's last remark is a reference musical child prodigies like Beethoven so he must have deduced that they've been pranked by a kid this whole time.
i'm doubting more and more that they are in any danger at all. now I think the coffin is really more suggestive of a pet dying, because of its small size and a coffin suggests that you somewhat loved/respected/etc the thing/person that died. if i were a kidnapper planning to kill a boy I would bury the body straight in the earth, I wouldn't bother with a coffin. :x
but I agree, I like this file too.
that's a good observation. I can't tell what it is though, it could be a record player. but I don't know how that's significant since the 'culprit' used the CD player to play the music... it's kinda a random place to store a record player too. :/soratothamax wrote: *Did anyone else notice something under the piano?

Re: Air on the G String kidnapping case: (Files 728-730?): V
yeah that's exactly what i think...they saw so many dead bodies that i wonder why Conan is afraid like thatJames Rye wrote: You know after more then 700 chapters with xxx bloody murders i find it a bit late of Conanto worry about the mental state of the DBs now.
anyway,i have no clues about this case,so i'm waiting for the next file...i hope the end will be interesting.

I wondered about that too. But maybe he thought it could be a dead body of a child that already started to rot (since the coffin wasn't buried yet, but a dead body could have been already placed into it)AICHAN wrote:yeah that's exactly what i think...they saw so many dead bodies that i wonder why Conan is afraid like thatJames Rye wrote: You know after more then 700 chapters with xxx bloody murders i find it a bit late of Conanto worry about the mental state of the DBs now.
maybe because the DB never saw a dead child...but still it's not very logical...
