DC will be on break for 6 weeks until SS #10.
We can expect 1,106 spoilers around January 27th.
Hmm yeah we can probably expect the mystery surrounding Amanda's dying message to be unraveled soon... although it is a long story ;D

This gives me the vibe of Scarlet Series. Parallels being Subaru and Bourbon in a cosy living room talking something very important, meanwhile someone else is being targeted on the raiha pass. Similarly, I feel, while Kuroda is going over his long story with Conan, simultaneously Chianti and Korn go after Rumi.
Hyped to see how this would pan out. Also it feels the clash with Rum is just around the corner. Would like if this somehow leads to the big event Gin talked of, and then we can finally know what the Tea party was all about.

Also eager to see how much of the past is Kuroda willing to reveal to Conan. After all , Conan is just a kid, so one wouldn't go over all the details...or would they?

Oh 6 weeks! But the wait shall be worth it (I hope).

Well yeah looking forward to the full story surrounding whatever happened 17 years ago. Some interesting points here:
1. Amanda is known as an "investor" exactly what does she invest in? Medical companies or software companies...? ::)
2. Why is Amanda attending a chess tournament? She really like chess and shogi? Or perhaps she was to meet someone there to discuss some investment business as well? We see on the table of Amanda's death scene, there is a wine bottle with ice as well as a chess board... yet no wine glasses... but certainly you need 2 people to play chess right? ;D
3. If Amanda died rather peacefully from poisoning, then where did the blood(?) or red paint(?) on her hand that was smeared(?) onto the white knight chess piece come from? Don't tell me it's actually from the lipstick she put on, which she used to kiss the watch and both smeared onto the eyes of the knight piece? ???
4. Who exactly was responsible for leaving Kohji all bruised up? We know all those suspected killers around him can probably one hit kill him by striking the neck to knock him out to feed him poison, so why is he all bruised, yet seemingly still alive before his death when Kuroda was there? ;)
5. I wonder if Rumi and Kohji actually played chess or shogi together before... why else would she keep the shogi piece unless it could also be a clue that points towards his killer besides it being just a lucky charm. ;D

Too bad the long wait for all these would have to come over 6 weeks :P

1. Amanda is known as an "investor" exactly what does she invest in? Medical companies or software companies...? ::)
Interesting point. There are two primary questions. Is that fact (she being an investor) is of any importance besides implying that she was rich and therefore had ties with important people? If it does, then how does it connect to the story?
Your suggestion of medical companies might imply connection to the silver bullet group, which seems like an important connection.
Or else, if software companies, then we have itakura software. Again an important connection.
Knowing the author's tendency to make retrospective connections, it won't be surprising if it turns out that way.
2. Why is Amanda attending a chess tournament? She really like chess and shogi? Or perhaps she was to meet someone there to discuss some investment business as well? We see on the table of Amanda's death scene, there is a wine bottle with ice as well as a chess board... yet no wine glasses... but certainly you need 2 people to play chess right? ;D
Interesting point. The fact that Rum himself was present, says a lot. Amanda's main motives are under question. Since the BO got involved, implies she came as part of her investment buisness. But what exactly, would be answered by question 1. 2 people to play chess... Right. So where are the rest of the chess pieces? Is it BO's modus operandi to nicely tuck in the chess pieces inside their box? Wine bottle with no wine glasses... Suspicious indeed.
Interesting point. It could be that she coughed up the blood? We saw that happening with the main character when he was administered the aptx. Lipstick theory can hold water if Amanda put it on, just before the supposed chess game.
4. Who exactly was responsible for leaving Kohji all bruised up? We know all those suspected killers around him can probably one hit kill him by striking the neck to knock him out to feed him poison, so why is he all bruised, yet seemingly still alive before his death when Kuroda was there? ;)
Interesting point. So we are talking about a fifth party to the case, who is not a trained fighter and yet can get away from the mess undetected. This person must be member of BO. But there could be a chance that person was the bodyguard of Amanda, aka Rumi. It seems she had some connection with him, so there might have been some turn of events which forced her to attack him, not to kill but to get him out of the way/fake his death/buy some time?
5. I wonder if Rumi and Kohji actually played chess or shogi together before... why else would she keep the shogi piece unless it could also be a clue that points towards his killer besides it being just a lucky charm. ;D
Interesting point. If the piece indeed points towards the killer, then why did she take it in the first place? And what good reason to carry it around wherever you go? If it turns out to be nothing but a lucky charm, I won't be surprised.

1,106 spoilers now out.

No break next week—we can expect 1,107 spoilers around this time next week.

Synopsis (thanks to Twitter user DCPH Anime and Manga (@conanph0304))
Spoiler:
Hyōe is an NPA agent in the same division as Rei/Tōru/Bourbon.

Hyōe went to the United States with a friend to watch the Chess Tournament.

Rumi Wakasa's/Asaka's real name is Rachel Asaka. Her father was Amanda's bodyguard, who was murdered, leading to her testifying and joining the Witness Protection Program. She was raised by Amanda.

Kōji calls Rachel/Rumi his type, and her eye condition is identified as acute amaurosis/black cataract.

In the present day, Chianti and Korn are in sniping position as Rum, in his limo, tells them their target is the bodyguard he failed to kill 17 years ago.

Rum used his left eye to identify Amanda's guards and have the BO goons incapacitate them all, leaving only Rachel/Rumi and Hyōe as threats to the assassination. Rum takes the stage personally.

Amanda asks a favor of Rachel/Rumi. Rum and some BO goons then enter to find Amanda waiting for them, seemingly alone. Amanda identifies Rum as someone she met 50 years ago at a "Japanese millionaire's birthday party." She says that he was a child back then, and was also called Rum back then.

The BO goons try to get the drop on Hyõe, but he turns the tables on them.

1,107 spoilers now out.

Synopsis (Extra details courtesy of YouTube/Twitter user KaiCo 4869)
Spoiler:
The cover page is pretty much the same as File 988 (Burning Tent case – Episode 909–Episode 910)... Shinichi/Conan putting his right hand over his right eye—just as Rum does when using his memory ability. (Except this time, Shinichi's/Conan's glasses are on, back in 988 he took them off and held them in his left hand)

Hyōe is explaining things to Shinichi/Conan in the present, explaining his boss had given him a secret mission to meet Amanda, before we flashback to after Hyōe knocked out the BO goons in the bathroom.

After Hyōe ties up the BO goons and goes to the front desk, the hotel staff take no action when he shows his badge and demands to be shown to Amanda's room.

Rum confronts Amanda with the BO goons, seemingly having read all of Amanda's planned moves against him... he had Vermouth—who, according to Rum, had only recently joined the BO—call the Director of the FBI with Amanda's voice to prevent a SWAT team from protecting Amanda and intercepting the BO. Revealing he knows about Rachel/Rumi as well (which really shocks Amanda), Rum pulls out a small case with APTX/Silver Bullet pills. He intends to use Rachel/Rumi to coerce Amanda into joining the BO.

Amanda deliberately ingests the APTX/Silver Bullet, surprising Rum and the BO goons. Rum orders the BO goons to find Rachel/Rumi, believing Amanda told her sensitive info. As Amanda lays dying, Rum reveals to her that the codename he now uses was inherited from his father, who served "that person" for many years.

Rachel/Rumi is in Kōji's room, and tries to rush back to Amanda, but that's the moment Rum and the BO goons knock on the door. Kōji has Rachel/Rumi hide, answers the door, denies knowing anything to Rum and the BO goons, and slams the door in their faces. He then tases Rachel/Rumi and hides her inside one of the bookshelves (taking out all the books, putting her body inside, and hiding her body from view with a row of books). He makes his comment about the watchtower bishop as she passes out.

Hyōe tricks a bellboy into leading Hyōe to Amanda's room by lying about being her guard (he leaves a phone for the bellboy, calls it and tells the bellboy to deliver the phone to Amanda's room).

Kōji eventually has to let Rum and the BO goons in. Rum appears on track to expose Kōji's trick to hide Rachel/Rumi in the bookshelf when Kōji mentions the name Renya Karasuma, immediately drawing Rum's attention away from the bookshelf. Kōji declares Rum has a connection to Renya Karasuma, saying he read an article that, 30 years ago, Rum was representing Renya at an international financial conference due to Renya's declining health.

Hyōe tails the bellboy to Amanda's room, and enters when the bellboy screams at finding Amanda's body on the chair. Hyōe tells the bellboy to phone the police and first sees the dying message with the knight and watch.

Even after being beaten by the BO goons, Kōji won't talk. After hearing that Amanda's body was discovered, Rum decides to use the APTX/Silver Bullet on Kōji.

Hyōe thinks about the dying message and takes a picture of it with his phone. He asks the bellboy for Kōji's room number, but the bellboy refuses, to which Hyōe yells he'll make him pay if anything happens to a Shogi Grand Master.
No break next week—we can expect 1,108 spoilers around this time next week.

well interesting share on the spoilers on the two latest chapters...
some interesting points to consider...

1. if Amanda met RUM who was still a kid 50 years ago then suppose he was only 5 years old at the time then he would be 55 when he met Amanda at the hotel and 55+17= 72 years old when he disguises himself as a sushi chef assistant... but... he has no wrinkles and does not look that old at all! Did RUM somehow underwent facial surgery to make himself appear younger or is wearing a mask... or ... did he took APTX to make himself younger? ;D

2. Kohji hiding Rumi in a bookshelf... now really? it is really insulting RUM's intelligence you know? I mean... isn't it a very obvious place to hide someone? Surely a shogi master with high intellect could have done better than that? Like hiding her outside the window maybe? ::)

3. So it is confirmed that Amanda's dying message is a real dying message left by herself and not a fake one and... she choose to consume the APTX herself instead of being forced... hmm... interesting... I wonder if she knew about APTX side effect and gambled whether taking it would make her young again? I mean if she knew about RUM and Renya and knew what they have been investing in then maybe she knew about the drug they were developing? :o

4. RUM with both eyes having the memory ability? OR just one? Wow... is RUM really human? Or maybe a clone? With AI empowered memory? ;D
For anyone interested might consider researching this link: https://darkerthanblack.fandom.com/wiki ... _Extractor and https://darkerthanblack.fandom.com/wiki/Asako_Makimiya

That's all for now i guess ;)

So 17 years ago the japanese police already had the current standard 6.5 inch flat screen smartphones, interesting.

Welp, I get that DC has always added new technology to it's timeline, but gosho used to adapt technology to flashbacks... Now he doesn't even care about that anymore.

1,108 spoilers are now out.

Synopsis
Spoiler:
The opening page features Shinichi/Conan with the image of the PTON cracked mirror behind him.

In the present, Chianti is still waiting at her sniping position. Rum speaks with her, before he has a flashback to 17 years ago.

Rum gives Kōji the APTX/Silver Bullet and Rum and the BO goons depart. Kōji, dying, pulls out the PUT ON MASCARA mirror.

Hyōe arrives in the hallway as Rum and the BO goons quickly leave and board the elevator... except for a lone BO goon, who wipes the door with a handkerchief. Hyōe knocks him out after the BO goon pulls a gun and enters the room.

Kōji is found by Hyōe in the bathroom.

Rachel/Rumi awakens, and is met by Hyōe. He shows her where Kōji is, and she immediately assumes Hyōe killed Kōji. She quickly puts him on the ground, but Hyōe's phone falls out of his pocket, with the screen showing Amanda's corpse. Sobbing and clutching the phone, Rachel/Rumi is knocked out by Hyōe.

In a car outside the hotel, Rum, about to leave, realizes exactly what Kōji did to conceal Rachel/Rumi from him, and he and the BO goons rush back to the room, passing by Hyōe, who's rolling a large luggage case. Rum praises Kōji for outwitting him... he's about to realize that the bathroom is such a mess because Kōji made a dying message, when the BO goons find the BO goon Hyōe knocked out. Rum realizes the man they passed with the case was Hyōe, transporting Rachel/Rumi, and orders the BO goons after Hyōe.

Rum and the BO goons chase Hyōe, and as he tries to outrun them, he slams into a truck. Rum orders the BO goons to flee, since the area is too visible for them to finish off Hyōe and Rachel/Rumi. As Hyōe is taken into an ambulance on a stretcher, the right side of his face covered in bandages, he asks the paramedic where Rachel/Rumi is... the paramedic says Hyōe was the only one in the car. As he loses consciousness, Hyōe thinks that Rachel/Rumi must have run away.

In the present, Hyōe continues his conversation with Shinichi/Conan.

As Shiho/Ai, the DBs, Dr. Agasa and Sumiko are still at the restaurant, Rachel/Rumi, the hood of her jacket up as she's pelted by the rain, has an intense look in her eye.
No break next week—we can expect 1,109 spoilers at around this time next week.

Mildy annoyed with this detail too. But I think Gosho was forced for them to have phones with cameras to explain how Kuroda got pictures of the crime scenes.

It is worth noting that some of these flashbacks are from Rum and Rachel's perspectives so these details are only known to us and not to Kuroda and Conan. I think this is where the dying messages comes into play

Cannot wait for file 1109.
