Is Masumi A Love Rival For Ran?
Ok, so i have been wondering after seeing certain events whether Sera Masumi is actually in love with Shinichi. Anyone care to shed some light on this topic?

Well, I am not an expert, but I think even mentally retarded persons can fall in love with other people. On the other side, Shinichi doesn't seems to have big interesst in Sera. Not when shs was a child nor at the current time. He is more interessted in her connection to Mary and the APTX than in her as a person. So if "rival" then not in the sense of love.

Sera perhaps is in love with Shinichi, but she's more in love with the "wizard" in Shinichi. I think Shinichi noticed that she might be in love with him because (unlike Haibara's) Sera's hints are pretty pushy, and he already claimed that she remembers her, and the case on the beach (where all this started).
Thankfully, Shinichi has his mind set on Ran, and he ignores the other girls, and thanks to that DC is only partially a harlequin's romance story.

totally agree with you, I also don't think that he loves any girl that type of love. he only loves Ran in that type of love; so I don't think that she will be a rival. I totally agree with Kentasaiba
The same thing that I daid with Kentasaiba, I will say it with you. I totally agree with you that She loves him, and loves him with being as her really mahou tsuki, but Conan only like RANNemomon wrote:Sera perhaps is in love with Shinichi, but she's more in love with the "wizard" in Shinichi. I don't want Ran to be with Conan, I only want Haibara my best character with conan but I totally agree in when you said Shinichi has his mind set on Ran, and he ignores the other girls, but I don't to thank this

I want Shinichi end up with Haibara as well, but at this point I will be happy if he will end up with anybody, even Ran, and will more focus on the BO, and the detective part of the story.

You mean that he only focus in rum now, not in bo. She might be in love with him but it's never been presented in a rivalry way. Quite the opposite actually with her keeping her feelings a secret.
And yeah it's more the idea of the wizard than shinichi.

Where is this even coming from. I don't think any girl other than Ran has shown any interest in Shinichi/Conan post-345 and Shinichi/Conan is pretty much Ran-sexual.AKAI REI wrote:Ok, so i have been wondering after seeing certain events whether Sera Masumi is actually in love with Shinichi. Here's the most relevant part from that section:
Relevant Manga Pages:DCW Wiki wrote:On several occasions, such as the dramatic conclusion of the Online Client Case, Masumi has displayed an intensely affectionate air towards Conan which somewhat transcends a mere "big sister" relationship. In fact, it is hinted during the Romance Novelist murder and in the movie Dimensional Sniper that she may actually be entertaining a crush on Shinichi/Conan and hopes of initiating a closer relationship with him. However, the actual level of her feelings for him is yet to be publicly revealed.
File 800, Page 14
Shinichi/Conan (blushing, bewildered): "Whoa!?"
Masumi (blushing, crying): "Yes!! I'm so glad you're alright!"
Shinichi/Conan (no longer blushing, bewildered, internal monologue): Why is she even here?
File 876, Page 11
Masumi (to Shinichi/Conan, blushing): "Do you have a love interest, Conan? For example, a girl you met a long time ago... and couldn't forget..."
Shinichi/Conan (confused): "N-not... really..."
Masumi: *gives him a dirty look*
Shinichi/Conan: ?
Movie 18: Dimensional Sniper (Post-Credits scene)
Masumi (to Ran): "There's only one man who can snipe your heart, Ran..."
[..]
Masumi (internal monologue): For now, anyway...
And then there are moments like when she blushes at him when he takes off his glasses (File 930).
She knows Conan Edogawa is Shinichi Kudo—and 7-year-old Shinichi Kudo made quite an impact on her (File 972–File 974).
I'd say it's entirely valid to conclude that she's in love with him—at the very least, it's an unrequited crush.

Not sure, I think it's just minor ship tease. I remember Haibara got a ton of hints in the 300s that I thought that was way more obvious (she flat out hated Ran until 345 iirc, not to mention 335-336 was blatant) and those went nowhere.DCUniverseAficionado wrote:http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki ... an_Edogawathriceplus wrote:Where is this even coming from. Re: Is Masumi A Love Rival For Ran?
I'm not saying it's going anywhere—I'm just saying that Masumi has an unrequited crush on Shinichi/Conan (just like Shiho/Ai does), "just a tease" or not.thriceplus wrote:Not sure, I think it's just minor ship tease. Re: Is Masumi A Love Rival For Ran?
At this point, can we even say that Ai or Ayumi even have a crush on Conan anymore? I think it's been more than a decade since there's been anything more than slight ship tease. Seems like they've just given up or moved on or something especially in Ai's case.DCUniverseAficionado wrote:I'm not saying it's going anywhere—I'm just saying that Masumi has an unrequited crush on Shinichi/Conan (just like Shiho/Ai does), "just a tease" or not.thriceplus wrote:Not sure, I think it's just minor ship tease. And I'm not convinced that it's anything more than ship tease on Sera's part. She barely even reacted in the Kyoto arc, which you'd assume she'd show some reaction if she actually had a serious crush on Shinichi.

Saying that Masumi is Ran's "love rival" for Shinichi's affections is like saying "Hey guys I think Ayumi's got a legit chance with Conan" or "Hey guys I think Momiji's got a legit chance with Heiji". It might make good fanfic material but nothing else.

What is "ship tease?" It's not a term I'm familiar with.thriceplus wrote:At this point, can we even say that Ai or Ayumi even have a crush on Conan anymore? Just because it hasn't been a recurring thing, as of late, doesn't negate its initial occurrence—it doesn't negate that it happened, to begin with.
Will it lead anywhere (for Ayumi, Shiho/Ai, or Masumi)? Nope. It was still a thing, though.
