The more time that I see your assumptions, and expectation, the more time I wonder about do you believe that something will happen?

Re: Discussion thread: Detective Conan 1000-1005
Some time ago I began to believe that none of the "suspects" that Gosho threw at us was really Rum.Meitanti-San wrote:"I think Asaka is Rumi because Gosho doesn’t cheat with his hints or make them extra shocking "
I think it's funny that you mention "cheat" because the Rum Arc started with Agasa's "trick" that turns out to be cheating.
If you think about it before the Rum arc was the Bourbon arc which already was written with "three suspects" and one real BO members between them. Storywise it wouldn't really make sense to do the exact same thing once again and I wonder if Gosho was just lazy (since the "three suspects, one culprit formula" is used really often in DC... and was used in the Bourbon arc as well) or if it was some kind of trick... and more and more I'm convinced that it's in fact the second option.
If Gosho give us three suspects again it's because after the long Bourbon arc which followed this pattern, we would assume the BO member would really be between the three of them. It can really be a narrative trick aimed at the readers. The cheat used by Agasa in the first chapter of this new arc could really be some sort of clue about this trick by the way : Agasa cheated by presenting only cups filled with vinegars and by making the kids believe that one of them was orange juice. The same way Gosho gave us only suspects which aren't in fact Rum but try to make the readers think that one of them is the real deal.
For me it would make sense that Rum is a character not really in the spotlight and not considered as a suspect. Maybe he haven't even appear yet.
But I'm not convinced by the three suspects. At all.

So let's see if I got this straight.
Masumi and her mother have been sitting on their butts for the last... who knows how long, but now that they know there's some drug that can turn Mary back to an adult, Masumi's finally going to do something.
Okay, I guess. Only... shouldn't Masumi already know about the existence of such a thing? Surely Sonoko has been blabbering about Shinichi meeting Ran in London, and she also saw a pic of Shiho and later saw Haibara as well. It's just, if the narrative excuse for Masumi and her mother to why they practically didn't do anything in the past one hundred and something chapters, is that they didn't know about this way to get back to normal temporarily, it's really questionable and contrived, which I suppose goes hand in hand with most of how the manga has handled this "plot" line so far. Conan doesn't care to investigate anything about them, Masumi wants him to remember something instead of just telling him whatever she needs, Masumi wants to talk with Haibara and then forgets about it, Masumi is curious about the hat Ran found but never mentions it again, etc.
I guess the most infuriating thing at this point is that Conan knows that Sera knows his secret, and Conan remembers meeting her on the beach, and Sera knows that he remembered, and yet they are still being vague with each other for no real reason.

Heh, if characters in this manga would talk with each other instead of pretending that nothing had happened, and they do know nothing, instead of reading boring cases about boring murders (and Conan himself admitted that this tengu case was boring) we would read interesting cases about hunting down a super secret organisation and revealing puzzles about a mysterious boss of it.

Well I totally agree with you on this one, but first thing first, people can't even seem to unravel the mystery about Rum. Is he\she tall or skinny, a man or woman, is she good or bad in character, and what and how exactly did he\she got to become #2 to the boss? If all the facts about RUM is screwed up and not straighten up, how could our characters ever get a lead onto the boss? If you know what I mean.Nemomon wrote:Heh, if characters in this manga would talk with each other instead of pretending that nothing had happened, and they do know nothing, instead of reading boring cases about boring murders (and Conan himself admitted that this tengu case was boring) we would read interesting cases about hunting down a super secret organisation and revealing puzzles about a mysterious boss of it.

@Nenomon: "Boring" was a mistranslation. The actual word is "sad". It's already been fixed in the releases.

I wouldn't say the actual word is "sad" since Shinichi uses the adjective "嫌(いや)" which means 'disagreeable' or 'unpleasant'. But you can argue it is in the "sad" sense though.

I told to you before guys about this this thing: "The more time that I see your assumptions, and expectation, the more time I wonder about do you believe that something will happen?" or I should say The more time that I see your assumptions, and expectation, the more time I wonder about why I don't think so?

Spoiler:
so when i said gosho doesn’t cheat i meant rumi as asaka and those wounds on her , the hair and the feminine hand on the news belong to her ( gosho wouldn’t cheat changing small aska figure in the picture suddenly to the huge wakita or the other huge guy from the police , for me she’s the only one who fits )

The way Rum is depicted proves Rum is secretive about his appearance. Think of it rationally, would you mistake an old man with an womanly man or a strong man if you really saw his face. Rum's prosthetic eye is sort of an urban legend in BO I guess even the lowest ranking BO people know about that shit.
Even if you consider Conan's Kansuke-Rum model, you can realize every interpretation holds till Kansuke is seen from back/or his face is not seen by the observer.
So Rum has to hide his face all the time, means Rum is a social bigshot and unlike Pisco needs to take great care as he's probably under constant scrutiny from the agents of law.
Like Rum can ba a celebrity who travells a lot, gets photographed a lot, has to always go through police checking. A person like a professional Shogi player, an Actor, a Butler of an influential family etc.

Actually no, he doesn't have to hide his face all the time. He could simply possess some disguise skills you know, putting on a mask or something, or, that he places a bandage on his prosthetic eye, pretending that his eye is injured but healing. But to introduce him now, but not from the past in any sense at all, is a major flaw of the plot that needs explanation as to what he has been doing the whole time back then. People's explanations are that he wasn't thought of by Gosho back then, but still I say we can come up with some good reasons why he didn't show up somewhere or was mentioned at all before. He could've been mentioned through some Japanese words of mysterious orders, like that.

Re: Discussion thread: Detective Conan 1000-1005
Considering that the entire manga takes place within a single year, I don't think we need an explanation what Rum was doing this entire time.
I also think that Rum must be a powerful person with a lot of influence. First he must be rich enough to be able to hide the fact that he has a lot of cash from illegal activity. Second, people must fear them and a single mention of their name should be enough to calm some people. I doubt anybody would fear Rumi or Wakita. Plus, they're a number 2 in the BO, I doubt they would assign missions to themselves. They have many other sgents for that. This is why I again doubt that Rum would disguise themselves as a kids teacher or a some cook. For this reason Kuroda or that shogi player look to m3vas a perfect Rum candidates. Plus, who knows, maybe this whole time Rum was in coma too? This is why people can't tell who Rum really is. Because the last mentions of them are over 17 years old now.

Rum in a coma? Very interesting possibility that I have never imagined. However, I doubt that's the case, but it's just me.

Even in your assertion Korn, Rum is hiding his face via disguise. Proves he can't show his face even to his subordinates, unlike Gin or Bourbon.
