... so? Am I to praise Gosho for exceeding the expectations of people who aren't me?
Also, the premise you're quoting is flawed. It once again makes up a majority and then psychically knows what said majority thinks, thus concludes that "Gosho did actually deliver".
I think 7 years is pretty good by current pacing standards
7 years is roughly what it took for the entire Bourbon thing to unfold. And since I can't consider that good pacing, no way can I consider "Ran replying to a confession" taking 7 years to be good pacing either.
especially for those who, say, thought it'd take 14 years for her to respond.
And such pacing must be extremely good for those who thought it'd take 28 years for her to respond. Thing is these 14 and 28 people are completely made up, and I'm not entirely sure why anyone should approach the text from the eyes of made-up people? (It's also not a really good argument in the first place. Implying it's good because it could have taken longer is just like saying a thing is better because it could have been worse).
Of course not. This is me we're talking about—I, of all people, am not up to such a task, and through no one's fault but my own (flawed arguments, things I should've realized would come off as ad-hominems, failure to follow the most basic of rules, etc.). Also, my post not only gave off the impression that not only was it a "heh, bet you didn't consider this/gotcha!" on my part, but it also gave off the impression that hypothetical people and still-very-slow-pacing was supposed to win you over. :-[ I've still got a lot to learn.

So you're claiming that group—and not a majority, either outside or within said group—doesn't exist? I don't think it's that unreasonable a concept to speculate the existence of such a group.

Not, "hey, that's like objectively good," I mean "that's pretty good for Red herring slowburn lord Gosho Aoyama of 2007–present." And I can guess why you think the latter is quite bad, just on its face.

Again, you're claiming such a group of people doesn't exist—that there aren't people who think that.

But that really depends on context, doesn't it? As well as one's own perspective of either glass-half-full, glass-half-empty, or anywhere in between these two poles (or as my grandmother used to say, "the many intervening shades of gray").

During this case, yes, it is the third time and it is the ninth antidote he has ever taken in all of the series.

Well.....

Saw the Summary in the Spoiler Box...
Spoiler:
I guess Gosho is really saving the lip kiss for the "Ran's Birthday" chapter.
(And I'm absolutly sure it will be a in the middle of transformation kiss...)

Interesting that Mary might now go after the Antidote....

Break next week. Manga comes back in 2 weeks.

Jecka shared lots of stuff in the cbox about the new file, so go and check the backlog for more specific details. Here are some highlights:
Spoiler:
Shinichi and Ran almost kiss (lips), but Shinichi bails in the last moment cause antidote's wearing off.
Masumi talks with Mary about the antidote.
Last page has Rumi, Kuroda and Wakita make an appearance all being suspicious and stuff.

Spoiler:
Yep, looks like even always-embarrased-by-this-kinda-stuff Shinichi couldn't hold back from a lip-to-lip kiss after she kissed him like that at the end of 1,004.

And I'm even more interested about what's gonna come next, with the Mary and Rum suspects stuff.
EDIT:
Here's one spoiler pic—also from Jecka, I believe:

Hmm.. a high chance that the next case will be about the plot.

Spoiler:
About that—apparently, the end/side text on Page 16 of 1,005 says, "expect 'new developments' next chapter."
EDIT:
Two more pics out—find them on the imgur link I gave on my previous post.

New development is probably another case to distract us from the evils of character growth and status quo makeover.
The Mystery of Conan Edogawa.

Arguably one of the best attempts at tackling the story of "Ran discovering the secret behind Conan". It's strong point is taking a common plot for Detective Conan fan fics and presenting it in a fresh manner such as:
- Touching on things that aren't dealt with in the show or discussed much.
- While there is some understanding towards Conan's predicament, the fic doesn't ignore the problematic approach he takes towards keeping quiet.

So, do yourself a favor and read this. I only wish I could so something half as decent.

More Rumi always welcome. Preferably with Kuroda or Wakita. Her case in chap 987-989 is the one of the most satisfying case I have read in years. Excited to know why Haibara "likes" Rumi and what she's really behind.

I think I'm more waiting for Rumi than for Kuroda, even though I like Kuroda more. Kuroda won't reveal anything plot-related. He will be just there. On the other hand, Rumi still has lots to reveal about herself, and maybe we will get to know what's up with her eye. So far she's more intetesting than Kuroda and Wakita combined.

Spoiler:
How the crap does Rumi have access to *the list*?
Also, anybody noticed the cuts on her left arm?

Spoiler:
Although I am happy that Rumi's back, gaining access to the full list of victims is a bit ridiculous if she is not a (former) BO member or have extremely strong information source. BO security is not lousy. Accessing their information with non-BO computer will cause "Night Baron" virus (Does Gosho even remember at this time?) to invade your computer and the entire data is destroy.

Spoiler:
The marks are not only on the left arm, but also on the right arm and the back, you can see it if you look closer. I don't know if that are stretch marks(not really), burn marks, scratch marks or maybe cuts. And to why she has access to the list: I think she may be infiltrating the BO or maybe once used to? I don't know, that's the easiest reason.
