I've noticed this but what I've noticed more as that there hasn't been a plot case at the beginning of the year. Even more interesting, I think Gosho delayed the conclusion of the arc for this white day case (now, I haven't the slighest clue what the case is about so I could be wrong). I mean, it isn't like anything would change significantly to the point where that case couldn't possibly be the same if it was done next year, right? :o
)
Also, that whole knitting sweaters, aborted questioning about feelings, making pottery, making chocolate thread, which also leads into the White Day sub-plot, was tied into the revelation about Vermouth stealing Kogoro's case-files, emphasized by Shin'ichi revealing that he feels bad about continually hurting Ran and Haibara's "sheltered flowers die" internal monologue as Conan dashes off to check on the Mouris. ::)
