I watched it as soon as it came out and felt disappointed but decided to wait for the subtitles to form an honest opinion and tbh - still disappointed. I felt like the episode wasn't what we were promised and we didn't really find out much about other people like I had expected, there were bare things about people's pre-current timeline whereabouts that could've been cleared up or mentioned more in-depth yet all we got was a remastered first episode and some pointless cameos. I feel like they had one shot at answering a lot of questions that the fans expected answers to but they didn't and now we'll never get those answers. As a few people already said, it felt very underwhelming.

One particular scene I'm having issues with is the Megure vs Gin one, yeah I get it was meant to depict Gin as a badman more than in the actual first episode but if what he was about to pull out of his jacket was what i think it was aka his gun then it makes no sense. There were ATLEAST eight cops there, what was he gonna do, have a massive shootout? And then what? Doesn't seem like the kind of drama canon Gin would want to cause.

Also this is entirely for personal reasons but I cannot believe my beloved Miwako didn't make an appearance, not even in the flash-forward. :(

I agree that the added scenes either didn't add much, showed things that were already described in the manga or were pointless cameos, but still, I wonder what some of these "lot of questions that the fans expected answers to" that you mention were, since I can't think of anything/recall anything that would really desperately need some answering.

Hmm, the first thing that comes to mind is that I thought Sherry's involvement in the organisation would be more explored, much more than modern tech-y locks, instant coffee and shrunken rats, you know?

Well, we already know that she mostly just worked and that she was vastly isolated from the outside world, so I'd guess there wasn't really much to show besides events that we already had described by her, though I agree that I expected more Sherry scenes, but I didn't think her daily life in the BO needed showing, but rather that there would be a new scene between her and Akemi or between her and Gin, though I wouldn't describe either event as a question that I needed an answer to, but more like a nice thing to have ;)

Can we have a moment of appreciation for Korn's ferris wheel scene at ~46:00?

Seconded.

Because that was undoubtedly the most unexpected and humorous moment of the special.

And the best part? It was entirely original.
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Overall I liked it...But as usual I expected more of Sherry, and we barely see her. I wanted some Akemi-Shiho or Shiho-Gin interactions, instead of useless cameos (DB, Kid...)
I loved the Gin part, it's nice to see him outside of his car and being scary ^^
I also liked Akai's part in new york...
But I agree that the timeline is weird...It seems like Sherry visited Shinichi's house after Akemi's death, while in the manga, she stopped her researches right after Akemi's death.

She visited twice, the second time a month after the first visit. And it seems like the first visit happened just after Akemi went to the Mouri Detective Agency.

Akemi died in File 16, but Shiho/Ai didn't meet Shinichi/Conan until File 178, very shortly after she escaped from the Organization.

In other words, it's always been weird.

In the end, what this timeline structure implies is:

15 Files (File 1 - File 16) = 2 months (~33% time)

965 Files (File 17 - File 980) = 4 months (~66% time)

980 Files = 6 months = Half a year (100% time)

People who try to make sense of the DC timeline are going to have a bad time, every time. Just don't bother. It doesn't help anything. Unless it's the past, then go for it.

Also, if someone could screenshot the scene with Korn blushing so I can get it on the wiki for his character article, that would be amazing. I don't want to download the whole darn special just to get a Korn blushing face.

I also posted a manga case solution at DCW if anyone is interested.

He wants to ride the ferris wheel and is embarrassed because Chianti noticed.

Korn had completely zoned out staring at the ferris wheel and thinking about something intently. Chianti noticed he was distracted and then asked Korn slightly skeptically if he wanted to ride the ferris wheel. Korn started blushing because Chianti straight-up just asked him if he wants to go on the stereotypical romantic Japanese couples ride. [/alternate interpretation]
