I must say I have seriously rolled my eyes at the idea of a strangulation victim leaving a dying message. It's one thing to leave it when one is bleeding out on the ground or slowly dying from starvation/dehydration/lack of air in some closed space, but when you are suddenly grabbed from behind and you feel the lack of oxygen from rope being tightened around your neck, then all reason flies out the window and you would instinctively grab onto the rope or the killer, not accept your destiny, and remain calm enough to figure out a clever message and position your fingers in accordance to it.

Its not reality its detective fiction...

Besides Gosho does take that in mind every now and then ie. The case before Mystery Train where the victim got an axe wound to the back.

I somewhat agree with Viper's point because yes, it is a detective FICTION grounded on REALITY. Honestly, I think the victim is not leaving a dying message but instead holding or doing something else with her hands (one of which was under her garment), for instance, to survive from the killer. And this action/gesture that she made, though not intended to identify the killer, in some way reveals to us something that would only point to one of the suspects.

Can I ask something? The victim's name is Sashihara Rikko, Sashihara Ritsuko or Sashiba Ritsuko? I was confused...

ATEM wrote:I believe the one sera was in contact with was the middle brother not shuuichi not for a specific reason though , she thought akai was dead and If she knew the truth in some point after I don't think that they would be in a free contact like she would call him just to ask about his opinion in a case that might put the two if them in danger especially that he knows that sera might be followed by most of the the time , however sera 's attitude towards okiya was too strange , sera does do some mistakes but she is trying to be causious and is kinda aware that there is some sort of danger around them even if she doesn't know about the organization so telling okiya about shinichi that easily in their first meeting and she was suspecting him was a very strange behavior from sera to me , that made me doubt if she already recognized him as her brother or she knew already in that case she may have been in contact with akai ,or she is completely ignorant about how dangerous her action was although it's hard to believe that a smart girl like her seeing people getting shrunken in front of her and can't tell how dangerous the situation might be ...
You do know that Sera met Subara before the Mystery train case right? That was way before she was shown to talk to her bro. After Sera was about to give up on Scar Akai(at the end of Kid Case), I believe that's when Akai contacted her, but that does still mean that she knows he is Subaru(Just like how Ran doesn't know Conan's identity).

What I am trying to say doesn't contradict that , sera was the reason that conan true identity was exposed to akai that was before the mystery train case, it is supposed that she didn't know when she said such an important information to okiya that he is akai ,
If she already knew that he is akai or he told her after the mystery train which I think it is I still don't see it appropriate for the two to talk too freely vermouth and buorbon were already after her in the mystery train case and they may try to overhear her calls why to put her and himself in such a danger .. anyway we may have an answer to alot of questions about the akai's soon .

Ofc she didn't know anything during the mystery train. It wasn't just Sera that helped him figuring out shinichi's whereabouts, Ran confessing that she lied about "Kinichi" also played a role.

Sashihara Ritsuko

さしはらりこ 指原律子

in the name box when reading the name horizontally it almost looks like the "tsu" ( つ ) might be small which would double the beginning of the next hirigana which would result as "Rikko", but if you look at the beginning of the next chapter where its said vertically you can see that the "tsu" its the same size and should be pronounced normally.
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

I think I figured out the meaning of the gesture of the victim's left hand... it means number 8 in china!
because Conan & Masumi reacted when Nitsuka mentioned "China", but I don't know how this will help to identify the culprit. ???

Why do you think that it refers to number 8 in China? When Conan and Sera deduced that it is the number 2 in some eastern sign language system. Please enlighten us :)

Conan's thoughts from the last page of Chapter 971:
Spoiler:
There's no mistake! It wasn't in the US that Sera studied abroad... It was in the UK!! But why did Sera... hide that she went to the UK... Wait a second... United Kingdom... United Kingdom... That's it! I remember!!

That's true with the hand signs. I lived a year in China when I was very little. While I don't remember the language at all anymore I still remember the signs of 1-10.
