Would be a bad idea to name yourself "CHURCHES" when your lyrics are "Teach me, make me holy 'til I can sell you lies, You can't get enough, Make a true believer of anyone, anyone, anyone" They're touring in a couple months, I hope I can catch them live.

I think this dates back to the middle ages when they used to write U's as V's so, I'm with Cider on this. It's not them being dumb, but rather creative imo.

Also, it's not possible to trademark a common word such as "churches" or "breakers," so if you want people to not sell your merchandise without authorization and a cut, it's a good idea to give your band a strange name with weird spelling.

Actually, this dates back a little farther than the middle ages. The current 'Roman' alphabet actually contains a couple more letters than the original Latin alphabet. Those letters are J and U. I think W is also new-ish. (Comparatively, I mean.) Not quite as certain there, though.
Ever seen a crucifix with the writing on top? "INRI" usually, though sometimes it'll be written out entirely: "Jesus (of) Nazareth, Rex Judeus". (Yeah, I'm pretty sure I don't have that quite right.) It translates to "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews", which was supposedly what he was being crucified for. But wait, Jesus starts with J, right? And so does "Judeus" or "Jew"! Where do the I's come from? Back at that time, the I and J sounds were represented with the same letter. U and V is a similar story, though I don't have a lot of quick details I can give you on that off the top of my head. (Yeah, I had 3 years of Latin in high school, but I also graduated in '01.)

Do they even change those things I wonder? I saw Clannad there and it seemed to have the OP intact and those are the most copyrighted parts (because of singing).

Lol it has the PS3 character models but with the original backgrounds from what I'm seeing, looks very weird.
