Honestly Rumi doesn't seem that suspicious, the last pic is in the "neutral" area to me. Other than that she just seems like the flawed and timid type.

He looks like Kuroda to you? For me it seems a generic character design.

My guess is that he's one of the robbers who used this code to communicate and maybe they met in the warehouse: he might've been pretending he was school staff to scare away anyone who tried to enter the warehouse or untie the string on the doors.

On a separate note, the message Conan gets when wrapping the string around the stick is:

土攵三工火工土工三吾 ,

Which rougly means:

"Ground/Saturday strike three work fire/Tuesday ground/Saturday work three I/me ,"

Maybe it's supposed to be a reference to the worn down schedule sheet that was in the warehouse and was meant to indicate a meeting time or something like that.

And what if the kanji must be ordered in columns by day number of the month the dead was killed in (I suppose March by the 3 kanji). I think Rumi really is Eisuke as a CIA agent.

The details on that skeleton look great. The zombie case and this one are pretty cool in that department. Interesting looking things and settings that are presented in different ways like these and Nue, Kirin or the Kawanakajima statues and London case make the volumes worth buying compared to the ones filled with normal apartment cases.

. Conan and Haibara tell DBs about how Kid disguised as Agasa and they begin to say they'd like Kid to impersonate them: Conan reminds Genta that Kid already impersonated him

. Kobayashi introduces Wasaka Rumi (37) and she timidly admits being 10 years older than Kobayashi: she then hits the teacher's desk while bowing

. Haibara points to Conan that the class' students have increased due to transfer students like her or Conan

. Wakasa then tells DBs she wants help on finding chalk because she doesn't find enough to draw "dot ball" in the yard for the PE class later yet there weren't spares in the normal warehouse

. Conan suggests checking the old warehouse: someone might've stocked a lot there: Genta and Mitsuhiko comment some rumors about the warehouse, such as that looks like the place where a ghost would show up or that some teacher got accidentally locked inside and starved to death

. The group goes to the warehouse and when Mitsuhiko comments that there's no lock Conan replies that it's never had one in 10 years: Ayumi asks why he knows that and he improvises that Ran told him: Haibara comments that it'd be better to tear it down

. Conan then recalls that the headmaster said that they wouldn't tear it down saying it was Feng Shui or some other reason back when the graduation day yet he quickly improvises that it was on the day when classes began yet the DBs point out that he wasn't there back then and they don't recall the headmaster saying that

. Conan, nervous, tries to switch topics and when he graps the door handles he recalls a voice that said "you mustn't touch that".

. The group comes in and uses the watches' light to search: the DBs tell Wakasa about Agasa and their badges

. They firstly find the worn down schedule which is mostly empty: Conan spots a hatch leading to the basement which is missing some rust meaning someone recently opened it: Conan lifts it...

... And they find a skeleton with some worn down clothes the head of which is leaning against some PE equipment: Conan tells Wakasa to ring the police and she hits the head with the opened hatch: Haibara is already annoyed at her clumsiness

. Conan deduces that the skeleton must be at least 10 years old: it's got a PE bandana on a hand: when Conan checks it out he finds a lot of Kanji and some symbols vertically aligned in 2 columns

. He recalls that, one day, 10 years ago, Ran rushed to tell him she found a "magical string" tied to the old warehouse's doors (was already worn down by then): Shinichi was skeptical but Ran argued that there were a lot of unknown symbols there

. Shinichi followed her there and found this very same string tied in one of the door handles: he deduced what was written there was Chinese: he began to undo it to go show it to a teacher yet a mysterious man told them they mustn't do that because it's a "evil-sealing string" keeping a "fearful demon" locked there.

. Shiratori and some police reach the scene and confirm that the skeleton is at least 10 years old: it's got a big crack on the rear of the skull and was holding a big bag full of chalk

. They didn't have anything that told their ID so he guesses it was a thief who tried to steal that chalk but missed a step on the stairs and hit the back of the head with the box and that caused their death

. Shiratori adds that this doesn't ammount to a case so they leave: Genta complains, asking why this isn't a murder case, and gets scolded by Kobayashi

. The headmaster comments that the police also came 10 years ago a group of 4 robbers broke into a wealthy man's house, killed the owner and stole gold worth 20 billion yen (aprox. 19 million USD)

. On that day's night it was said that several suspicious shadows were witnessed entering the Teitan Elementary grounds and the police came to check it out

. Conan asks if the robbers got caught yet the headmaster says he hasn't heard anything about that: he leaves while commenting that people who commit crimes must be punished, guesses they're either living while cowering in fear or had a miserable death

. The DBs discuss what's happened and wonder what the string was about: Genta gets scared thinking it was a curse but Conan says it's a code

. Conan introduces it as a code invented by the Spartans over 2500 years ago

. Conan demonstrates it by cutting off a sheet a thin string, wrapping it around a stick, and writing "Ayumi - chan is a girl who's always energetic and kind". He then undoes the string and if you try to read it then it makes no sense

. Haibara brings the print-out of the photo Conan took with his phone of the warehouse string: Conan tries to wrap it around a pen and guesses he should be able to read it but he's unable to: the text doesn't make sense

This blogger recreated the string with all of the symbols and wrapped it around a pen thus getting the following message, same one Conan got:

The symbol "三" (three) is put there to break the pattern: it's using the symbol "泳" (swimming) as basis. They then take the "氵" part from this kanji and it becomes "三" (three). It's a way of saying "take out the three stikes from this symbol" and you get "水" (water).

Japanese uses the symbols 月, 火, 水, 木, 金, 土 and 日 to indicate days of the week, especially in schedules like these to save up space

The other symbols are actually taken from symbols of school subjects:

攵 -> 数-> 算数 (Math)
体 -> 体 -> 体育 (PE)
吾 -> 語-> 国語 (Japanese)
会 -> 社会 (social studies)

Now you create a schedule grid and fill it yet the blogger doesn't make it clear what's the logic for filling it: they say to begin with the words "いろは" (Iro wa/ Color is) but I fail to understand the logic. The arrangement of the kana doesn't follow a logical pattern either. Maybe it's something about Japanese I don't know about yet.

So this code was from one of the robbers to the others telling them to come meet him/her to get their shares of the stolen gold.

The arrangement is actually the iroha poem (Wikipedia article)! I'm not Japanese either, so I'm not completely sure, but apparently it's intuitive enough for people to use for codes like this one. Thanks for the solution!

Well, Gosho did say in the AC hints that the code could be solved this early. If I recall, the code from Shukichi's Envelope (945–947) was solved before the final file, as well.

As for Rumi, she's either going to be revealed to be in on the robbery and arrested by the end of the case, or she's going to remain at Teitan Elementary and become a recurring character. I'd say the former is more likely, but the latter possibility leads to her achieving a status similar to Sakurako, thus leaving the chance that she's connected to a main plot-relevant character.

The characters that appear upon tying the string around the pen can't be read as they are.

There are voiced consonant marks in odd positions and they seem to be a hint and yet...

The group begin to thinks they're lacking some material: Rumi, who'd casually been charged with cleansing up, accidentally tears the wall's schedule with the ruler she's been given.

Conan then remembers the schedule found at the warehouse with the corpse and uses one as a cypher table: he turns the "odds" as weekdays and the "created" into subjects
and thus creates a Japanese syllabary table which he then reads aloud:

Su-ma-ho-me-u, so-ne-a-ri-ta. E-bu-e-mu-a!
Yu-te-shi-ri-to, u-tsu-a-so-ko. Mo-u"-ni-mu-a!

The day's classes end and the DBs are about to head back with the code still unsolved: they find that the news about the corpse in the warehouse and the code are already circulating in the Internet. When they are about to leave Rumi asks them to help her find limestone once again: they enter the old warehouse again and find signs of someone having searched the place.

It's been 2 hours since the news were emitted so there was plenty of time for anyone to ransack the place.

But it'd seem that the basement is untouched, however. Mitsuhiko hurries the group telling them to finish searching and go back: Rumi also agrees and says she'd like to go back home and have some whisky or something like that.

Whisky... Ebisu beer... The colors are the key to order the syllabary's contents! And Conan then realizes the code is related to the case of 10 years ago...

Side-note: Has the code been decoded!? But there seems to be a dangerous figure behind this case!! Next number, the resolution!

Woah, thanks a lot Spimer. Though geez, I was hoping for this file to become something bigger. I still suspect her as Eisuke. Considering Gosho said DC is entering the final straight, I doubt (hope) this is going to be just some random case... So we can only wait u.u

This Rumi as well could be Vermouth in disguise considering how she was looking at Conan. But i doubt she's Eisuke. She doean't look like Eisuke.

The only thing that reminds me of Eisuke is the clumsiness.

To begin with, Eisuke doesn't know how to disguise. And even if he did I doubt he has ability to pass off as a woman.

We don't even know if he got to enter the CIA or not in the end, either.

I still think she's either related to the robbers or to the wealthy man killed by the robbers 10 years ago.
