The plot doesn't make much sense but it's better than M15 by quite a bit imo. Not as good as 17 or 18.

This was a meaningless movie that stumbled at almost every attempt to have a reason to exist. It's like they combined 3 of the lesser Conan movies in a way.

It's not the worst Conan movie, but there is very little reason to watch this movie.

It's undoubtedly great fanservice for Kid fans though. I can see some of these characters coming back in later movies also.

Yes, but so is every other Kid movie.

Didn't stop it from becoming the highest grossing DC movie ever, though.

But movies are their own thing. Nothing to do with original plot as isn't canonical.

They have their own anime canon.

The movies do?

Or are you referring to things like Gin and Vodka not appearing in Episode 5 and Episode 13, as they did in the manga?

I think he referred for example to Kaito knowing Conan's true identity. In each subsequent movie Kaito was aware who Conan is.

And the fact that they have the linked Magic Files to them too.

I'm so disappointed... Personally, I found this to be the worst movie of them all.
The culprit was more than predictable , also that guy who killed his brother...his picture was in the newspaper, damnit!, their reasons were.... nonexistent. Heck, the fact that they didn't have a real motive was basically even stated by Conan. The story didn't get me hooked at all - so, trying to destroy a painting? Okay, well, even if it's by van Gogh, it's a painting. The side story with the old lady seemed to be there only in order to involve Jii-chan somehow. Kaito was probably the only factor that made this kind of fun for me. But it was irritating that they just warmed up the entire "Kid dresses up as Shinichi" again. (And again.)
(ShinRan was nonexistent, but this is only my personal preference of course).

But most of all, the animation was so sloppy, I almost felt cheated. It was downright horrible in certain scenes.

To the defense of the animation, they switched to a new art/animationstyle for this one, so maybe it'll get better in Movie 20, when they have more experience.
