(If you don't know what Piggate is and want to google it, please do because it's hilarious, but also be aware that it involves a pretentious nob engaging in sexual activity with a dead animal)
Heard about it, but honestly speaking I don't see anything wrong in it now. Bringing back things what one did in their youth (and while being drunk) isn't any helpful now especially that I doubt that Cameron is having fun with animals (whether dead or alive) now. And in their youth one makes a lot of stupid mistakes and deeds. Nobody is a walking saint through their entire live. Though, it seems that someone stopped loving Cameron's politics and that's why they're searching for stuff that could show him in a bad light.

The pig isn't necessarily the problem, though, it's just the part that people are making fun of

The problem is that almost all the members of our current Cabinet went to school together

The problem is that all of them were part of these pretentious clubs that included initiation rituals like burning a £50 note in front of a homeless person--a confirmed initiation rite for the Bullingdon Club, which Cameron has acknowledged being a member of, and whose group photos look like this:

Image

Our beloved prime minister is second from the left standing, btw.

The problem is that a good portion of our government works on the principal of the Old School Tie, on giving each other a leg up or a Cabinet position or passing bills for them on the basis of having been in these clubs together

(Like the book in which these allegations were made was written by a man called Lord Ashcroft who is pissed off because he didn't get the significant government position that he paid for, that he was promised when he put money into Cameron's election campaign)

The problem is that these men get each other into government and spend their time cutting benefits and raising tuition and not raising the minimum wage to correspond to the cost of living and demonizing the poor and the disabled and immigrants as "drains on our society" when nobody's a bigger drain than him and his rich mates helping each other skip out on their taxes and keeping each others' offshore bank accounts secret

The problem is that he talked about Syrian refugees like they were an infestation of insects until the uproar about that photo of that wee dead boy, at which point he said he intended to let 20,000 refugees into the country by 2020 and tried to make that sound magnanimous when it's less than Germany takes in in a weekend

The problem is that he was straight-up racist and patronizing during the independence debate and then, quelle surprise, has failed to follow through on most of the promises he made to Scotland for the powers we'd get if we stayed

The problem is that under Cameron's government the number of food banks in the UK has gone from 56 to 445 and the number of people needing them has gone from 41,000 to 1.1 million

The problem is that he wants to kill the NHS and privatize our healthcare and that the cuts he's made so far are killing people

The problem is that we're not even a little bit surprised that he's corrupt and hypocritical as hell because that's what we expect of him and his party, who by the way the majority of the country did NOT vote for, but because of our first-past-the-post system being more than a little borked he won anyway

The problem is that David Cameron is scum and the fact that he once literally shagged a dead pig is the only new bit of scumminess and somehow he's managed to put up a strong enough Rich Straight White Man shield to avoid being destroyed by the rest of the scum so no we are not going to forgive him this we are not going to forgive him anything, not ever, because he has earned no forgiveness and he owes more apologies than he could ever deliver in the course of a human lifetime

(Also yes, we all do stupid stuff when we're drunk in Uni. Lots of people at my Uni got drunk enough to go to Hive, which is an awful club. One friend of mine got smashed and had a nap on the Royal Mile. I know an entire flat in my dorms who would go out and get drunk, come back to their flat and make pizza and forget about it as they all passed out drunk in the kitchen and burn it and get everyone in the block woken up by the fire alarm and forced to stand outside at 4 in the morning until the fire truck arrived, and they did this three times a week. I know people who got drunk and had sex in the elevator to their flat, I know all of us got drunk enough to sing too loudly at the wee hours of the morning, I was a drama student so of course we all got drunk enough to do terrible interpretive dance in clubs. I personally got drunk enough to watch M. Night Shyamalan's Avatar: The Last Airbender. Sticking your dick in a dead pig's mouth is not in the same league as "I got drunk and made a silly mistake".)

I love how this thread can go from heavy topics to something light and frivolous.

Yeah, the more modern/adult jokes and the style of it might get old or awkward after a while, but it's at least really fun for an episode.

Canadian elections are next month and is it weird that the only thing I see the Conservative party doing is attacking the other parties with attack ads? Especially Liberal? :/

I think negative spin has been proven to have more effect than positive spin? Or something like that, idk.
