We had an episode called "Ai Haibara Imprisonment Case", and we know how that one turned out to be. Just sayin' :-X
I actually liked it. It wasn't great, but it wasn't entirely bad either. And we got to see Haibara. I found the story itself much better than the script of the fillers we had in 2010, 2011, etc.. ^^'

They could restart animating the Detective Conan Special Files. Focusing on the ones where the Black Organisation appears (Volume 26 & Volume 35). At least, it would be better than AOs.

If episode 777 is going to be about a detective competition, I'd say the Detective Boys are gonna win. Why? Because they got Conan/Shinichi and the elderlies don't.

I'd agree with adapting Special Manga Cases, because they're often better than AO's, but not the ones with BO agents. Doing non-canon BO members in the anime is not a good idea imo.

So, I've understood the gist of the summary of episode 774, 775 and 776. I'm not entirely sure though.

Episode 774 will be a theft. The Detective Boys and Jirokichi go to Narita airport to receive Munch's Scream. They put the drawing in the boot of Jirokichi's car, and bring it to the Suzuki Museum. But once they get to the musem, the drawing is not there anymore.

Episode 775 and 776 look interesting too. Kogoro is the "Great detective" who's being manipulated. A secret organization blackmails him and ask him to do some things I don't understand. If he doesn't do it or if he calls the police, then Ran, who's this organization's hostage, will be killed.

Huh, so after Haibara was captured recently, now Ran will be a hostage in an AO (again)? I don't really like that, AO's shouldn't raise the stakes that high, when everyone knows they'll amount to nothing. Let's see if we can get some sidefluff from those episodes.

Because Ran or Haibara being hostage in a canon episode usually doesn't amount to 'nothing' in the end ? ???

Atleast there is the possibility for something to happen and there are more tense just because of that. Episodes like Smash of Determination and Love and The Stork Mystery Tour had just no tension at all, while Reunion with the BO and Heiji Hattori's Desperate Situation (I know, not Haibara or Ran, but still) gave a great feel of tension and danger, it felt like something was at stake; not to speak of the Double Moon Mystery. Besides, when was Ran ever in a canon hostage situation? I can't recall any right now on top of my head.

I'll give you 'Reunion with the BO' but that was 15 years ago barely 50 episodes after Haibara's first appearance so there was still some unknown about what could be done with the character. For 'Heiji's desperate situation' however, the feeling of tension and danger was comparable to what can be done with AOs imo, except the story was just better since written by Gosho.

I don't think she was ever hostage. But just to say that if she was in the modern canon, it wouldn't be much different in the end to what happens with fillers.

Just gonna list the episode # because I don't know them in English :P

294~295
376
554~555
648~650(This one could be argued though)

There could be more that I couldn't recall either.

I also think they should stop using the theme of 'hostage' unless the BO is behind, because rarely any of them had any impact by far...

(In case if you ask if anyone was ever held as hostage before: )
768 (Haibara)
671~674 (Conan)
656~657 (Ayumi)
622~623 (Conan & Haibara)
577 (Haibara though briefly)
563~564 (Bank robbery; Jodie, Scarred Akai, DBs&Conan except Haibara)
542~543 (Ayumi though briefly)
518~519 (Mitsuhiko & Haibara)

There could be more cuz I haven't got the full list of anime episodes.

First three are not canon (294-295 and 554-555 I listed in my post, just FYI). 648-650 is another good example, it had more tension than all of the other three combined imo.

Damn, 6 fillers in a row. This year is definitely going to be like season 3. Four manga-based episodes, four or five filler episodes, four manga-based episodes, and so on.

What can it help, now manga is on irregular release schedule, so anime needs to use AOs or remastered episodes to buy times and margin between manga and anime.
