Detective Conan 746-747 (Kaito Kid VS Makoto Kyogoku) Discussion thread

First of all, OMG Sonoko's sister is alive! I'm not sure she's appeared since the episodes were still in like...double digit numbers. I almost assumed the series somehow wrote her out of the series entirely without actually telling anyone.

Y'know, the recent Openings have been memorable and good. At least music-wise, which is like 80% of what I want anyway. Someone is trying but the Detective Conan openings ran out of ideas ages ago and is just been on auto-pilot with the animation for...years. At least more often than not...

wait, but Kid has disguised himself as a woman. Multiple times in fact. I mean...I assume she's talking more about the cleavage but still...

I love the response to Sonoko holding Makoto's hands. "Conan, you're too young to see this!" XD

So, this is something I had wanted to see for a very long time. It just made sense. Sonoko has a thing for exactly 2 boys nowadays, and both of them are 2 of the more dangerous characters, so why not put them head to head like this? So when I saw this was a thing, I was ecstatic. Because the plot has taken a nap it seems (again where I am right now, don't spoil for later things, ok?), it's probably the most interesting thing in the Conan canon I've seen in a while. And the build up to this was fantastic. Sonoko not giving a **** about what her family wants, Makoto being hilariously jealous, Kid manipulating everything with an ultimately decent goal. And this is great because Kid almost always wins and Makoto is basically invincible. That scene with Makoto destroying the guards was something closer to Magic Kaito's levels of over-the-top. And then he guards it by wearing the jewel and making everyone else leave, for fear of their safety! Yes, yes, yes, yes to all of this. It's beautiful.

And Kid then shooting ALL the masks and working with Sonoko to trick everyone. But, and I just realized this, I guess in the end he couldn't fully disguise himself as a woman after all. I will say, there wasn't enough of the actual interaction with Makoto and Kid, but I wasn't really surprised by that. They still had to focus on the mystery and the stuff, ok. But at least Makoto got to DESTROY A PILLAR TO LAUNCH HIMSELF UPSIDE DOWN THROUGH THE CEILING. That is the best thing.

I would love to see this as a recurring rivalry, that would be great. If it's anywhere as good as this, I want more! This is honestly not only one of the best stories in a while, this is the best Kid case in a loooooong time. More of this, please.

Anyway, I liked this case because of Makoto gettin' all jealous plus I like Makoto and he needs more appearances.

I would love to see this as a recurring rivalry, that would be great. If it's anywhere as good as this, I want more! This is honestly not only one of the best stories in a while, this is the best Kid case in a loooooong time. More of this, please.
