I watched it last night. It is better than the recent few movies
IMO it is more comparable with movie 2 than 13
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

Wow hey, this was hands down the best English voice acting performance in animated Conan EVER. Er, yes, it was still far away from perfect...but I could at least get what they were saying WITHOUT reading the subtitles. *Yippie*
All in all, I think this worked quite well! Actually, considering the canon parts, I was pretty content. Guess you can't get any nearer revealing the truth about Okiya without downright spelling it out. =D Also, I'm normally not the biggest Sera Fan, but they did a decent job with portraying her in this movie. I'm satisfied with the way the movie turned out. (Not commenting on the Conan stunts. Ridiculous action is ridiculous.)
One thing, though...

@Okiyakaivan: sorry, but unless you're more specific... Are you sure the theater version was missing something? Can't you pinpoint an specific scene that felt different to you?

Re: Detective Conan Movie 18: "Dimensional Sniper" (2014)
Finally got around to watching this.
-An actual backstory!!! In recent movies, the credibility of the villains' motivations has reached a particularly low ebb (with Movie 15's being the most impressively terrible, even though it was a decent movie on the whole), but here there was an intense and interesting (if predictable) setup.
-Lack of body count boosting. In several DC movies, a bunch of people we know nothing about get killed at the beginning of the movie, something that is nicely avoided here.
-I'm not going to say I was about to stop watching after the first ten minutes of the movie, but I was close to "tuning out." Watching Conan zoom around on the skateboard is fun, but after a couple minutes the effect is gone. Ideally action scenes like that should be at the conclusion, while the beginning should have more detective work/investigation.
-The plot in this movie unfolds in a somewhat stilted manner. Rather than following Conan's investigation, it gets pushed ahead by the bits of information that FBI receives. This isn't the worst thing ever, but it makes everything a bit less exciting.
-Maybe this is true of every movie and I just haven't noticed it until now, but this movie felt like it stapled together elements of past DC movies. The motive was Movie 4's (revenge on evil colleague who sabotaged career) and the tower stuff came from Movie 13.
All in all, this was much better than recent DC movies, though the continued lack of an actual mystery makes me sad.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Looks like a good start. Dunno how it compares to Lupin vs Conan or movie 17, though.

Why would the foreigners talk in English and yet have internal monologue in Japanese.
Oh that final stunt. I didn't see the pipe-bending coming, though, and it's little surprises like that that make 'em nice.
