New Opening Song #39 [DYNAMITE] by Kuraki Mai

Post by red.orchid »

So I looked around and since nobody has posted about it yet, here we are: a bit of Mai's opening theme song starting from episode 757 (aired recently in Japan).

Edited: This one seems to have better video quality:

Don't like this OP. The music isn't in my liking. But the animation isn't bad, and even Ran had more screen time than just a couple of seconds.

When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along

I'M BLOWING UP I'M BLOWING UP

The song is decent for me (cough Mai Kuraki bias cough), the animation is... interesting. This really doesn't fit a detective series though, maybe if this was some kind of fantasy anime I'd buy it, but on Conan... ehhh.

I'd agree this is possibly the worst Mai Kuraki songs she has done for DC, but hey I still like it over GGC and Free Magic and Tear Drops and I find it pretty a hype-inducing song so.

Song's definitely a strange choice for Conan anime (at one point I thought I was in a nightclub of some kind). Animation wise... hard to say. I liked the concept though, nice idea and all. Overall, better than GREED, but I expected more from Mai. Oh well, can't have it all, can we? ;D

Interesting concept, eye-pleasing visuals (Am I the only one who liked what they did with the door thingies? Not to mention they put Haibara in front of #1!) and it has a certain charm to it since it deviates from the usual kind of openings. The thing is, however, like someone posted above, it doesn't /fit/ to be used as an opening for Conan. Everything was set in a fantasy/futuristic/supernatural atmosphere reminiscent of Tsubasa or Fairy Tail. Match it with a techno-pop kind of song (Definitely not the best but not the worst, either) and you're left wondering what the animator's were smoking when they did this.

For me, this is still better than teardrops or GGC. :)

The one comment I heard was it looked like the animators had been hitting acid and/or reading CLAMP...

I actually like the song, though the animation is bizarre. Might just be I like dancey music. Didn't really care for Greed.

Clearly the animators have played too much Child of Eden, judging from Ran's appearance and her floating in that sphere towards the end.
