Which characters are going to die by the end?
I think it's pretty obvious some important characters are going to die by the end of Detective Conan as it will be more interesting concerning the plot development. Gosho said the end would be a happy ending, mostly. So I guess it implies that there will be sacrifices in Conan's side, unfortunately. As for who I think will die in the future, I think that Kir will surely get killed, she is too much of help for Akai's camp and is risking her life so much by being a spy in the Org that it would be weird if she survives at the end.
I also think that Eisuke might die as well, if he wants to become a CIA agent so badly, he might get careless and get involved in some BO things and get murdered. He did show signs of carelessness when he was looking for his sister in Haido Hospital after all and since he doesn't even know the Org, I think it's even more dangerous for him...
It makes me really sad thinking about it but Akai might also die by the end though I think he may survive because he has to fully avenge Akemi, it'd be weird if Akai failed as well by dying. Kogoro dying would be quite crazy too but DC's ending won't be entirely joyful :/.
Edit : Let's not forget that Gin said he hasn't denied completely Kogoro being suspicious/related to the FBI.
So, what do you guys think, who do you think will die at the end?

I agree about Kir and Akai, but I don't think Eisuke is going to return to be able to die on-screen. But I personally hope nobody of the "good guys" gets killed. Yes, it would produce more emotional impact, but I just prefer happy endings in fiction, as they are rare in real life.Incomplete-tantei wrote:I think it's pretty obvious some important characters are going to die by the end of Detective Conan as it will be more interesting concerning the plot development. I also think Kir will be killed. She's too close to the BO to remain untouched.
Eisuke rather will not die. He's too clumsy to join CIA anyway, and too young to be useful in the BO plot. He might join CIA far after the BO will be destroyed.
Akai might die. In fact Akai doesn't have anything to lose; his entire life is connected to the BO. Not to mention that his entire family thinks he's already dead. But I doubt that Gosho will kill him again.
Bourbon might die too. He's too much blackmailing Vermouth. She might decide to kill him too.
Will Vermouth die? I think yes. I think that among all the DC charatcers she's the one that would love to die.

I have to admit that Bourbon is being quite the nuisance for Vermouth. Especially if Rum has started to move because of the moles in BO, if his identity ever gets revealed, it should be the end for him. But Gosho said he didn't want to kill Bourbon so I don't know. Nevertheless if the storyline gets more interesting somehow because of Bourbon's death I can't see why he wouldn't kill him.Nemomon wrote: Bourbon might die too. He's too much blackmailing Vermouth. First of all there are are many fans of Detective Conan .
50% have sided on Shinichi x Ran
50% have sided on conan/shinichi x haibara
I think that Gosho has to make a choice between these two and if he does he has to make one die for an excuse ti the fans(if u know what i mean to say)
So either Ran or Haibara will die in the future.

I've come to say, no. I don't think Gosho will kill the main characters love interest especially if he said it'll be a happy ending. And I don't think Haibara won't die for the same reason.geetp007 wrote:So either Ran or Haibara will die in the future.
Best bet would probably be someone still in the BO. (Gin possibly, Vermouth more likely but I think she'd just fake it, Bourbon, maybe Rum but since we don't know anything about him.... :x)

Re: Which characters are going to die by the end?
I don't see anyone on the main cast frequently dying. Sure put to the edge of death multiple times *points to Heiji* but death? Seems pretty unlikely, even for Haibara.
So despite me being sadfaced all over this thread, Kir might die. But frankly I prefer Bourbon to die *shot by angry Bourbon fans* Still, both's existences are a threat to the Organisation, so I'll be pretty surprised if action of any sort is taken to one but not to the other. I see BO-loyal agents killing themselves once they're taken down, like Gin, Rum and Ano Kata most likely. Vermouth might just disguise herself and slip away. She definitely isn't the type of person to die for the Organisation, and she is definitely not the most loyal agent out there.
Akai dying is an interesting perspective to consider. It's not exactly rare for animes to use the "he met his deceased lover in death" or something, though I find it unlikely given the HUGE fanbase he has accumulated across the years. Eisuke... is yeah, unless he's coming back, which his highly unlikely, I think it's close to impossible to him dying. He's too young to join the CIA, and him joining will probably just endanger his sister's identity. Though it'd be interesting to consider how Eisuke would react if his sister is killed.

I'm rather certain that both Vermouth and Gin will die. Kir might die, and I think Bourbon has a high chance of dying as well. Also, Anokata will probably be dead by the end too. All of the core cast should make it to the end though.

Re: Which characters are going to die by the end?
I honestly would prefer Gin, Vermouth and the boss being arrested and go on trial rather that get killed. That's not because I am so "merciful" towards the bad guys, but the other way around: they shouldn't get away with just a quick death. I noticed that in detective fiction, the most important/clever/powerful criminals never got to jail, but almost always get killed without even making headlines. That leaves a feeling that they are "above" common human justice, while things like jail and criminal proceedings are only for "small fishes". If that's really the authors' logic, I disagree completely with that. Even in Conan Doyle's stories, I would have preferred professor Moriarty to be hanged after a trial rather than being killed before the arrest (it's not like I am for the death penalty, but due to the historical setting, another outcome wouldn't be logical if he was convicted for everything he did).

Maybe because `dying` is considered to be the highest punishment among people.Mario2000 wrote:I honestly would prefer Gin, Vermouth and the boss being arrested and go on trial rather that get killed. And to be honest I rather wuld want them t die than to go t jail. In jail they would continue what they did - these persns are too important and too powerful to stay in jail. They have to die if we want the plot ging to the end. Otherwise their minions still might hount the protagonists, or do something nasty.
Not to mention that in jail they prbably wuld get 20 years, and that's all... They would be free after 10 years. Assuming their minions wouldn't help them to escape.

There is the death penalty in Japan. They will hang (or get shot, or whatever is used there) if all the crimes are proven.Nemomon wrote:Maybe because `dying` is considered to be the highest punishment among people.Mario2000 wrote:I honestly would prefer Gin, Vermouth and the boss being arrested and go on trial rather that get killed. I'd say none. Maybe, just maybe Gin and Vermouth, but other than these two none.

I hope Vermouth's going to die. She's not entirely evil like Gin or Vodka. It would be much more dramatic if she died while protecting Ran or Conan, that if it was Gin who died. :p
