I might be wrong, I need to dig out Movie 17's one and see what the rules were: but be careful with what you post. I'll confirm it to you later on.

When discussing specifics from this movie, please use spoiler boxes (at least for the remainder of 2014).

A lot of people will be coming in for general impressions, but of course don't want actual spoilers without notice. k11chi's post was OK enough, but I spoiler boxed it just in case.

@Okiyakaiva: maybe Amazon. Not sure, since I've never done this. Take into mind, though, that the actual sale day is November the 26th: now it's only available as a RENTAL DVD.

Spoiler: Only for those who already watched
I've only been in the 15%. So the FBI finally had joined forces with the Japanese police. Do they already gained the rights to operate there? I mean, its about time they requested permission to investigate this organization. If Conan calls it by Black Organization, I wonder what the FBI calls it.

What I most wanted to be covered in the movie was...
Spoiler: Movie 18 Spoilers
Some background on Akai's training and what led to his sniping skills and any other organizations he may have been in pre-FBI. We did get a few new nuggets in there, such as him being so good that even Navy SEALs snipers knew of an FBI sniper of nearly unsurpassed ability.

In fact, this movie showcases a few new things along those lines, such as the FBI now openly working with the police. It was also surprising to hear the snipers refer to Akai as "Silver Bullet", too.

Though... It does always kill me, whether in the anime or the manga or now in this movie, when Conan's portrayed in a way that gives the impression he doesn't know who Subaru is. I understand the point of it, but just adding some ambiguity to it all would make it a lot easier to swallow. As it is, he's talking about Subaru while he's completely alone in the middle of nowhere, so it's OK to drop the act for a minute (like Nolan's Batman always doing the voice).
All in all, it's still very nice to have the movies add in "Canon+" sort of details. As with some of the early Kogorou and Eri stuff from Movie 2 and some things sprinkled in for the first movie and a few others, there's not always room to add those in for the manga. So long as Gosho approves them (and usually he is the one suggesting/adding/directing those details and how they make it in, if not at the very least refining them directly to ensure they work in the broader scheme of things), I'm OK with it all.

Could Movie 19 is related to Eri, gonna have courtroom confrontation in movie. Sunflowers are seen to symbolize freedom and justice owing to their habit of always facing the sun.

My random guess: Kid will play a large role in Movie 19. His new anime will be running right up until the time the movie hits theaters, giving great cross-promotion and tons of airtime airing back-to-back with Conan for the four/five-month promotion cycle from December~April. Throw in him being included in...
Spoiler:
Lupin vs. Conan earlier last year
...and Kid taking over Gosho's time for a few weeks in manga form, and I wouldn't write off this all being part of a buildup to him again co-starring in M19.

I liked this movie for the most part. It was a nice action flick and at least they tried to keep a mystery element until the end.
Spoiler:
At a certain point, though, they kinda made it too obvious who the sniper is. Pretty sure it was Jodie and Camel who were speculating how Green was likely a decoy, so with him out of the way, Kevin was the only option remaining.

I kinda like how everyone got a bit of a hero moment in the climax. Though it could have been handled without Conan's ridiculous stunts. Like, movie 13's ending stunt looks sane in comparison, but well, Conan movie will have those things, so whatever.
I also liked there were decent stakes in this one. Taking the city and civilians into account, as well as social media and the people's reaction, was a very good move.
Sera was slightly more likable in this movie than she is at the manga. At the very least, Conan's recklessness had consequences as it made Sera injured.
I also liked how the police and FBI joined forces in this movie and had a lot of scenes together.
One of the things that really bothered me was the English voice acting. All of it was not really good, and I kinda expected better cause I thought they had foreigners do the voices. Carlos sounded like a bad Schwarzenegger impression, for example. Waltz probably had the best actor, but it's too bad 90% of his lines were generic 80s action movie lines. It was like 5 action movie one liners in a row at one scene
Quick rundown!
Spoiler:
Kir isn't even mentioned by name D:

"Sera who calls herself a detective" - lol Conan

Conan's a dick to traffic

Is this the first time ever that we see characters standing on Agasa's roof?

I predicted perfectly well what Kogoro's deduction was going to be about the identity of the sniper.

No DB, Haibara's pun was just as bad as Agasa's.

This film should have been called: Okiya The Movie

More Ayanokoji is always a good

Osaka was referenced in this film but no appearance for Heiji, Kazuha and their families and friends? This has to be the most shocking thing in this movie!

That Okiya "reveal" at the end was timed perfectly. I really enjoyed that moment.
One last thing (slight manga spoilers).
Spoiler:
I do like the Okiya/Akai reveal in this. The film amounts to it pretty well with all the snipers stuff (though from the beginning I feel like the writers knew the identity was pretty obvious by now).
In all honesty, I feel like this movie served as a much better Okiya/Akai reveal than the mess we got in the manga.

Wasn't it already confirmed that Kaito Kid will be in the next movie?
