Discussion Thread: Magic Kaito Chapters 31-33

Dunno how "strict" we are when it comes to MK, but just in case, I put the same manga rules we have for Conan here.

7 days since chapter 31 have past, so I'm not using spoiler tags for it.

So far I kinda like it. A bit of a refreshing break from Conan, and it's probably better to have MK chapters over Kid in a case (nothing against Kid, it's just that his cases in the past 4 years or so haven't been really good).

I like that there's this old man who can see through tricks and scams, cause I don't think Kid had to deal with someone like that yet. Also it's nice to see Hakuba again.

Looking forward to see what sort of confrontation the two Kaitos will have.

I also realized in this chapter that Jii's bar and the bar Kogoro was in are the same.

I have no doubt someone mentioned this before. I just never saw this bit of trivia before, so I didn't know until now

I'm really hoping that Toichi's not actually alive. Partly because I'm a bit tired of that kind of plot twist coming up all the time.

I kinda hope Toichi is alive, despite how that would (in some ways) undermine the fabric of the origin and the backstory and all that. It'd just be a refreshing change that could open up the doors to some... interesting new Conan stories, to say the least.

To be honest, I think it would be better if Kid wasn't involved in DC at all, at least not so much, because in all Conan vs Kid cases the whole riddle is kind of pointess in my opinion: since Kid returns the stolen object anyway, what does it matter whether Conan identifies him or not? If he at least arrested him sometimes and then he escaped from jail, that would at least make some difference.

It may just be the fact I've read too much fanfiction, but I've always entertained the idea that Toichi was alive. Even from just the manga POV. Might also be due to me not believing characters I like are dead until there's a body. So whether he is still running around or not, I won't be very surprised either way. Kaito would be more than a little pissed off and hurt that he didn't say anything about it, though, and just pulled a Sherlock stunt that lasted too long.

Most of me is still hoping he's not actually alive, though....

I... I don't really know do I want Toichi to be dead or alive... In a way the whole point in the series is Kaito finding out what happened to him and pissing off the zoo company because they killed Toichi. The about normal avenging story... But Toichi is also interesting character(more that Yusaku despite the fact they are very similar) and I'd love to see him more.
