Re: Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files 899-9??: Shogi Tournament
I remembered something interesting a couple of days ago when I saw you people congratulating Gosho on his 51th birthday. He once stated that once he turns into Agasa's age, he will end the series or begin the ending of it, which leaves us with 2 years on the run maximum, since Agasa is either 52 or 53, it's not 100% accurately known, but he's less than 54 years old, as I recall. This supports what I said in the cbox to User4860 about the series being half way through during the Clash Of Red & Black, but he insisted that by saying halfway through, they meant halfway through the arc. By the pace we're going at and the time Gosho is taking, that I think he's taking so much to plan the ending of the series in the proper way without any flaws, which might mean we'll be near the end after 2 years. The mystery train arc pre & aftermath took from him about a year, so this means he can do something double the amount of the mystery train in 2 years, and by 2 years we will almost be near episode 1000 or about 900, and in the manga we'll be entering file 1300 or about 1200, and this is only if we continue by the average of the speed we're at now, which means that during The Clash Of Red & Black we really were halfway through the series; Episode 504 & File 609. Another reason that makes me think and firmly believe that he's going to end it soon is that they care about sales of the manga & anime, and the fans are getting frustrated because of the boring cases and that he's almost running out of ideas. It's hard to create a mystery, he's been creating them since the 1996's, it's really normal for him to run out of ideas to be honest, he's a human after all and isn't a machine. So, what I'm implying here and what I really think is going to happen is that the arc of Rum will be the beginning of the end of this series, whether it will be short or long I can't really guess, but what I'm going for at the moment is that we'll be introduced to Rum & his acquaintaces, and it will be very deep into the heart of the organization, so that at the final showdown arc we will see decent spicy events that will lead into the real final clash & a great ending.

as sad as it sounds, As long as this Rum arc will take at least the double amount of time it took for bourbon arc, then I'd gladly prepare myself for an closeby ending of my FAVORITE serie ever. And btw, I already suspected that the serie was close to the final climax since the moment they introduced a BO member close to the Boss, I knew that we were finally gonna get more hints about the BO boss identity, meaning that the end is really close!!!wkd wrote:I remembered something interesting a couple of days ago when I saw you people congratulating Gosho on his 51th birthday. I don't really think that Rum's arc will be double the amount of Bourbon's arc. Bourbon's whole arc took around 250 files, which is too long, and disappointing at the end. If Rum's arc is double the amount, it may mean that it will include also the final showdown arc inside it because it will be longer than 400 files, which takes 2 years to complete, and we'll pass file 1300. There's a 2nd option, and imo I think that's the one that's gonna happen, and is more like Gosho's way of handling the Black Organization cases which is; We will have Rum's arc for about 100 files, it will be more direct and interesting than Bourbon's arc, since probably Rum will be introduced to us generally without us having to figure out who he is, like the case of Bourbon. It will involve heavy actions and links, that will intrude with normal Conan cases and lead him into more information about the BO, along with the FBI. After these 100 files or so are done we'll have an amount of approximately 30 files break, and boring interruptions (DB cases, and Love Stories). After these, the beginning of the end will really begin and it will be around 300 files, I'm sure there will be cases between them that involves criminals not related to the BO, like the one that happened during TCORB. As we progress to the last 100 files of this arc we will know the boss' identity, but at the very end like the final 50 files the tension between Conan & the BO will increase really fast. We will enjoy a variety of plot twists and surprises. I repeat this is my very own opinion, and is probably the way I would love to see things end in this great series in a more logical and close way things could be wrapped up.
About the series coming to an end, well sure every fan will be sad that it came to an end, and we'll feel the empty space that Detective Conan will leave in our chest, but come on guys every thing in this life comes to an end, whether we would accept it or not, nothing lasts forever. Personally, I would love a great chain of events that lead to a magnificent ending. Then I will rewatch the old cases and the ones I missed whenever I miss Conan. You can never get bored of this series, it has got 900 files, and 738 episodes already till this day, imagine the amount when it finishes after a couple of years! For me, DC is like a book full of events that I wouldn't mind closing my eyes and choosing a random page to read.

@Akai/Subura: It's probably due to the World Cup. Gosho is a big fan of football, and probably he wants to enjoy watching it without distraction since we wait for it for 4 whole years to arrive. Anyway, I think he's also planning for Rum's arc peacefully without any pressures while he's enjoying his time in Brazil, but that's my guess so it's not 100% correct.

Wow well he deserves a bit of relaxation after all, it must be very tired being a mangaka of his level, and yeah you're right maybe being there he could think in new cases and obiously the new Rum arc.

Yeah he deserves it, but not when he reveals the supposed close appearance of a high ranked member in the organization. I can't forgive him for now, he lit the fire up and let us burn. Maybe if he writes a breathtaking Rum case in the very near future I may forgive him lol.

Indeed, Gosho-san deserves a relaxation right now. Who knows, maybe these 3 week-break will be worth for us to wait cause as you all said, Gosho will start the Rum Arc which will excite us fans.

I remember Agasa saying n some OVA "I'm only 53, you know!" so. .wkd wrote:I remembered something interesting a couple of days ago when I saw you people congratulating Gosho on his 51th birthday. But really, it will take a long time for all of these plot threads to be resolved and the Rum arc to finish (It just started!) so. . .

His age is written as 52 years old in his wiki profile with 53 on top of it in brackets, so that's the source I used. 2 years is indeed a long time, with a major player in the game that's really close to the boss, as akai stated, we're really closing in on the end. I read an interview of Gosho's this year, he was almost implying that Conan takes almost all of his time, and that he sleeps only 3 hours each working day since 20 years, so I guess he's looking forward to end this series. After all everyone of us wants to see what's gonna happen in the final showdown.

Even though, DC is my favourite manga, I'm glad that it will end within two years or so. I just can't wait to get all the answers, who is the boss and BO's goal, etc. If Gosho wants to finish DC within two years, then it would be the best to introduce Rum directly to us, especially if Gosho wants to introduce other BO's members, as well. As it was said before, the other members could be Rum's subordinates. There are also other mysteries that need to be resolved. Well, hopefully either at the end or after Shogi case, we get some plot related stuff.
I'm just hoping that we get some great plot twist related to the BO.

I don't wanna disappoint you or any other person that have got their hopes raised about the series ending in 2 years, but even though Agasa is apparently 53, Gosho can make up his birthday whenever he wants to and have an extra year and so on the year after. He may feel a bit stressed with that little time he's got to wrap things up, and might consider this method.soul_dreamer wrote:Even though, DC is my favourite manga, I'm glad that it will end within two years or so. Although what I just said can happen at any time soon, I'm sticking to my opinion about him planning to end it in a couple of years.
We don't need any stretches in the timeline and boring events that will disappoint the readers. If Gosho's keen on ending the whole story in a couple of years I guess he can do it. He probably learned from the flaws in his previous arcs and has a clear plan on the way he's planning the finale, but he may reconsider stuff to be edited and add on it something interesting.
Two arcs both up to 350 files or it even may be only one arc, with 50 side related files are enough to clear everything up, and can be done by 2 to 3 years, it's not impossible at all for Gosho.
