To Yume_no_meitantei: Most mountain roads have the edge on the same side of the road for most of the way.

To Rellik: I am not saying it happened like this but if the boat self inflates then a sunden stop could have puled the cord and inflated the boat. Also I do not see how rubber could have either caused the back light or the reflection. The only way as I see it, that it could be them as if it the 'magic' item is under those and all mystery reader I know like the story better if all the clue are set before the reader. Hiding a clue in my book is cheating.

To Splinter: In reality ALL the cars have mirrors.( both rear view and driver side mirrors) . Also the Witch does not need to bring the mirror back to the car but simply hide the mirror behind the guard rail.

To Nyarl: I doubt that is the case because then it should happen much more often and and ever become expected.

i think the trick in the turning part is the drift itself... when the witch draft, the front side of the car turned right then the back side of the car turned left which made it look like the car was actually turning left... especially that it was a foggy day 

and the waving the arms thing... the car was stopped from afar and reflected the light of the person from behind him to the fog, thus showing a shadow of a person waving with light behind him/her

yeh i thot of that too, but then i thot, i don't see how someoen can mistake a tail light showin the car is going left, because the tail light would curve as the car drifts.

and i think it's the other way round, since the grandma sed there was light shining from her/his back. so i think is grandma's car's light that caused that.

i don't know but to me, the manga seems to show the witch's car alredy drifted b4 mouri saw the taillights.

Tail lights are red.  Head lights are yellow/white.  Rather hard to mix those up.

I've thought of  that too, but then again, the night was foggy... when i first saw the manga, it did seam that the car drifted that way... and I'm pretty sure that the shriek would be heard first before the turn because you brake first before turning to drift... I'm actually talking about a sloppy drift rather than a nice one because that I've seen that kind of turn before when I'm playing Need for speed  (I suck at drifting... hehe)

on the man shining, I'm talking about is that what the old woman saw is the shadow already... it's like this

a fog can be dense enough to stop light... isn't it? I'm not that sure though...

oh, then that makes more sense to me because in my theory, if they saw a red front light, it would change a lot... probably  because of the fog, they could only see the back light... only a theory though...

its way ovius 2 find d frnt & bak by d lights cuz of wat ginrei sed, so it mst b juz a trik w/ fog shadow.

& u kno fog dosnt exakly stop light. it caus light to lyk spred or sumtin, u kno "dry eyes" effect durng rock band perf

To go back over the case, I wonder if the shriek heard by Mouri, Conan and Ran could actually be the noise of braking or skidding, that would confirm hakkaino7's theory... And I also wonder if this hypothesis has already been suggested. 

Anyway, this case seems more interesting than recent ones (revolving sushi restaurant, for instance)... Indeed I really enjoy when a crime, even a trite one, challenges laws of Physics or introduces some charasteristics of Fantastic genre.

I think this is what avidfan has to say. You can partially see the trajectory of light in a fog, compared to when there's none. Dust can also show light paths, I guess.

i think it's definitely because u don't put punctuations in ur replies that makes it hard to read.

and ur spellin as well, u spell 'to' as 'two' + u put spaces on unnecessary parts.

It'd be better if u don't use chat abbrieviations. It'd be better if u be like splinter.
