Re: Asian Dramas
Watched a few Japanese ones, like Bokura no yuuki, Tantei gakuen q, Jikou keisatsu and Joshi deka. Are were nice in their own way but still haven't found the one which will make me go "whoa". Downloading Liar Game (is the softsubbed 720p version good?)

Re: Asian Dramas
My chinese part of the family watches these old school chinese dramas, like set in the Tang Dynasty and stuff (with the ponytails...and the kung fu when people fly in the air).
What's the appeal of watching these shows? I always thought it was just for old folks like my dad/aunt/uncles
Soap Operas in general, in any language, are too over the top for me. Americans ones are horrible, and I've seen some parodies of like Korean Dramas/Japanese Dramas and it's quite hilarious.

LIAR GAME! It's one of my favorites!! (There's gonna be a movie out too! They just finished season 2...)
And it features Matsuda Shota!! YAYAY!
My other favorite Dramas are:
Aibou
Ryomaden <<Fukuyama Masaharu!! Yay!!
Galileo
Pandora (well, just started watching)
Doragon-Zakura (That's the romanization...)
There's a lot more, but I can't remember them all right now...

Re: Asian Dramas
One thing about Liar Game is that most of the tricks they use are completely predictable, but it's just amazing how they execute them... and it's even more amazing how they can see through each other's tricks and counter each other.
And if you like Liar Game, you might like "Kurosagi". It's basically about this swindler who swindles other swindlers... Pretty good tricks, and really realistic ones too...

Re: Asian Dramas
Pretty much. Only main difference is that Yokoya gets beaten at the end of Season 1, and a different rival comes up in Season 2...

Re: Asian Dramas
My Japanese teacher from last year gave me two discs of Galileo, but I have no idea what it's about and have yet to watch it. She also gave me two discs of another drama, but I never bothered translating the title to see what it is. That I also have not seen.

It's the most unbearable live action IMO... GTO and Gokusen were "great", DN and DC live action were "decent" but the Detective Academy Q live action together with the Prince of Tennis live action are "crap"... But that's just me...meidei wrote:Yep. Re: Asian Dramas
yeah,it's a great manga!!!!i love it!but i didn't know there's a drama!!!Beastly wrote: Nao Kanzaki, an honest and naive college student, receives 100 million yen (about $1,000,000) and an invitation to participate in the "Liar Game Tournament". The aim of the game is to trick the other players out of their hundred million yen. At the end, the winner gets the hundred million and the loser is a hundred million yen in debt. She discovered her opponent was her elementary school teacher, Mr. Fujisawa. When Nao was easily tricked into giving her opponent the 100 million yen, she asks Shinichi Akiyama, an ex-convict and genius who recently got out of jail, for help. Though Akiyama was reluctant at first, he agrees to help on the condition that he takes half of the 100 million yen as his reward. Akiyama succeeds in taking all the money and winning the game for Nao. However, Nao and Akiyama's success at the Liar Game is far from over as they get dragged back in the game each time. Though initially unwilling participants, the pair choose to continue in the game in order to discover the true nature of the organization involved and to try and free other participants from the Liar Game.
i usually don't like dramas(especially when they it's from a manga),but i recently watched the drama LIFE and now i'm addicted to J dramas^^ it talks about a girl who's persecuted by the others students in highschool, and try to not being a victim anymore...a good story for me,because most of the drama which have success talk about first love,or other romantic stuff

If you are talking specifically about the 2006 Live action movie, then it's more than simply "crap". Thanks God I watched the anime before the movie.CoolKid3 wrote:It's the most unbearable live action IMO... Leaving QAD aside, do you know other comedies similar to Jikou Keisatsu?

I'm not familiar with that series so I can't recommend anything... I just watched a couple of Live Action version of anime series like GTO and Gokusen... I'm not sure if you've already watched them...meidei wrote: do you know other comedies similar to Jikou Keisatsu?
