Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth... unless you royally screwed up.

This actually had almost nothing to do with Case Closed's fate. The second Cartoon Network/Adult Swim did not pick up more episodes was the day it really died. The show was popular and successful enough to continue compared to their other programs, but the network went a different direction and relegated it to obscurity.

Without TV broadcasts, Conan's chance at becoming a mainstay property died that day in America. Nowadays, the manga does somewhat well by manga standards, but the anime on home video has never really done well because it wasn't until the end that FUNimation had the incentive to put it into the packages it needed (seasons) to succeed even as a niche anime series (not as a mainstream property). Even if they had kept that up with the 130s and beyond, they wouldn't have been able to sustain it for long in today's marketplace.

The Americanization honestly had no bearing on its fate, not with fans and not with Cartoon Network's executives. In fact, it probably helped the latter. The real issue that Conan had was that it came along too late in the anime cycle. America had already moved on from anime in a big way since the late 90s/early 2000s by the time it premiered in 2004. It's now too long for anyone to realistically tackle as a licensing play, unfortunately. It's just not happening.

I see. That would really be killer, yeah.

While the Americanisation bothers me, it probably doesn't bother everyone and certainly not those who were exposed to it that way first.

It's too bad about the licensing chances now though >_< I agree it's not gonna happen
