Biggest problem with the series IMO. This case is decent, but the characters are terrible. They don't even really have personalities at all, and aren't funny or likeable in any shape or form...
Yeah, they seem strangely lifeless here........ Hopefully this gets taken care of later.

Comedy isn't exactly Kindaichis strong suit so I hope I'll never get to witness anything like this episode again. The latest 2 episodes have been so *** but next one seems promising.

I didn't actually think it was too bad :x
I liked it better than the last one at least.

Kindaichi is just not suited for 1 part cases like these. Good thing the next one seems much more promising.

I like how you can tell how long the case is going to be in Kindaichi just by how many faces they show at the start. On the whole, when it's 8 it tends to be in four parts, and when it's 6 it tends to be three.

I haven't watched this just yet, but is there any chance of them using this series to revisit some of those included in the original series? As posted elsewhere, the production value of the original series is a little off-putting, so it would be nice to see everything updated and streamlined if possible. If they are making this series with those cases considered "solved" (by referencing them, etc), it's unlikely they'll go back to them, I guess.

Well it seems like they're going to be re-airing one of the older OVA (OVAs usually have high quality animation... so this may be worse than the original adaptation) but it's supposedly made just for the "new file series" or whatever.

After seeing this thread here and finding out Kindaichi is back, I excitedly just watched episodes 1-4, the first case. Animation is pretty good, and nice to have the old seiyuus back. But something feels... off. When I read Kindaichi manga and watched the old anime/live-action(one with Tsuyoshi Domoto), I could feel the suspense in the case and feared for safety of characters. Haven't felt much of that at all so far.

Granted, I have only watched one "case" so I might be jumping into conclusion too soon, but that was my first impression. I'll keep watching for now, in hopes that it will get some of that suspense in the future episodes.

Ok guys we got our cut off from other world island serial murder story now here again so I guess it's going to be the most atmospheric case so far as far as suspense goes.

Perfect episode this week. Kindaichi usually doesn't disappoint with this type of cases.

Spoiler:
I'm guessing this week the layout of the house might important...the rooms look as though they're arranged on a pentacle array, and the random number allocation is bizarre.
Maybe the numbers refer to atomic numbers of the elements? They've pointed out the metal on the doors, so metal might be a keyword to the puzzle and I think all of the numbers they pulled out from the box correspond to metals. e.g. 13 = Aluminimum, 28 = Nickel, 29 = Copper, 12 = Magnesium...
This alchemist case looks interesting indeed.

I liked the Alchemist murder case, even though it was quite simple. Looking forward to more of such cases!!
