NEW ACE ATTORNEY GAME!!!!!!!!

Post by Chekhov MacGuffin »

Image

So the game, Dai Gyakuten Saiban, is set in Meiji Era Japan, and the protagonist is an ancestor of Phoenix Wright, Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken. Takumi is heading the project.

There is some speculation that the protag is a common ancestor of Apollo and Wright based on the names and appearence (Naruhodou Ryuunosuke = Naruhodou Ryuuichi + no + Odoroki Housuke).

FYI Meiji era extended from September 1868 through July 1912. "Historically, defense attorneys fell under the Shihoushou (Ministry of Justice), and law enforcement officials/people in the military were allowed to carry swords. "

My immediate thoughts go to the idea of Himura Kenshin as a defense attorney, which is amazing.

I've only followed this series up to from Phoenix Wright 1 to Kenji 1 but I thought that Apollo game was atrocious. Has he appeared in all of the games afterwards?

please play an even remotely bad game and then pretend I should take this opinion seriously

I think kk's point is that the worst of the ace attorney franchise is a heck of a lot better than a number of other series. To draw a Detective Conan analogy, I might complain about Detective Conan Movie 6, but I'll sing its praises if you sit me down and make me watch Bleach Movie 3 or something.

I didn't think Apollo Justice was that bad, the cases were pretty nice. Dual Destinies did a great job with Apollo IMO.

Ofcourse I was just comparing it to the other AA games... I play CoD and BF but I think they're garbage.

Just because Apollo Justice was the weakest game of the main series (I do not count the AAI games because I couldn't even finish the first one, it bored me so much) doesn't mean it was atrocious, imo. I actually liked the game, even if I do think it was the weakest.

Along the DC movies comparison line... it was like Movie 11 for me (which I enjoyed, even though going into it, I had been told over and over that it was a terrible movie. Doesn't mean it was my favorite, not by a long shot. But it will never be as terrible as Movie 6 was for me).

Yeah, he's in Dual Destinies as well. Apollo Justice was certainly weird, I think it gets a bad rap most of the time but I wouldn't call it really good or bad, just average. I don't even think the actual devs like it seeing as how they retcon a bit of it in Dual Destinies, but I hope we can at least all agree that AJ Phoenix is best Phoenix.

Anyway, speaking of ace attorney

Okay... Dual Destinies... I must say I absolutely hated Athena, her magic psyche ability and her cheesy backstory and also Apollo got way too much screentime and his friendship stuff felt forced and out of place... Rest was mostly pretty decent I guess aside from the fact that the lack of Edgeworth and his importance by the end was disappointing...

Now I really need to get Miles Edgeworth 2 somehow.

Well glad I won't be eating those monstrosities anytime soon since there are no KFC restaurants (or whatever) where I live.

RAGE! HOW DARE YOU HATE ATHENA! >:D >:( I for one Loved her! And I kinda expected Edgeworth to have a lack of time since he already had two spin offs. I liked her back story and I do not believe her psyche ability is all that different from Phoenix's magatama. Heck I'd argue her ability is less "magical" than Phoenix's ability since her ability is presented as combination of technology and psychology ( using wedget) And Phoenix's ability is straight up presented as "spiritual"

edit: and also this: So you're implying that spirit mediums, parrots testifying in court, prosecutors with whips, possession with spirits, etc. are LEGITIMATE PORTRAYALS OF ACTUAL COURT. If you do think this, then you're an idiot.

^ Playing that one right now and I really need to get a shift on with it so I can find out what's the deal with Godot and why Key keeps insisting that I will never feel happy again once I know.
