I'm sorry if this question has already been asked before but I just want to ask, is movie 14 canon? I seem to get mixed answers on this. Some people say it's canon and some say it's not. I've always considered movies as non-canon but I remember movie 14 being mentioned in the manga so I assumed that it is. Does anybody know? Thanks.

Movies are by default non-canon. Only the elements that specifically get mentioned in the manga are considered canon. Yamamura's promotion to inspector in Raven Chaser crossed over to the manga so is considered canon. No mention in the manga has ever been made of the Black Org's kidnapping of the police superintendent and shooting up the Tokyo tower in full view of the entire city with a military helicopter so those are not considered canon.

I can't recall anything in Lost Ship that has crossed over to the manga and thus would be considered canon.

The whole point of being picky about canon is to ensure the manga storyline is internally consistent. Not all the elements of the movies were written by Gosho and thus have the possibility of introducing evidence or suggesting events that could contradict with Gosho's later plot developments. (Examples: London was assumed to be the first real confession in the manga and a major romance development, but the movies have had similar or stronger confessions. In one M13 thread we talked about how the overt Black Organization attacks could not be ignored by the police. They effectively outed themselves and their scope of power, and thus would create problems in the manga storyline if assumed to have happened.)
There is no particular reason to be obsessed with canon unless theories are on the line.

Here is the way that I view the movies with regard to the canon: Any details added about the characters and their backgrounds can be considered at least secondary canon (as far as better understanding those characters) until or unless they are rendered inconsequential by implications or depictions or recollections of events in the manga. For example, the background story from Movie 2 with regard to Eri and Kogorou's relationship is a nice enough addition to the canon, but it can be overwritten or ignored at any time should Gosho feel there's a better story to tell there. Irish from Movie 13 was an interesting character to introduce in the course of that film. We'll likely learn more about Akai in Movie 18, and while the details will be extraneous, I doubt they will be outright contradicted in the manga anytime soon.

The short version: If something from the movies conflicts with the manga, it can be assumed to have never happened. If not, there's little harm in just considering it as at least "secondary canon". All in all, though, the movies are really "just for fun" and getting too obsessed with what is canon, what is not canon, what should be canon, what is not canon, is really just a recipe for losing valuable time in your life.

Has anyone ever mapped out the Mouri's apartment and office? I can't really get a hang of its layout.

I've never seen it mapped out, but movie 4 is fairly nice for a reference, since they show Ran around a bit. The only things they don't mention are the restroom being the door closest to the wall to the immediate right when entering the office.

Though, a lot of my screenshots are technically from non-canon, what I see doesn't conflict with anything that I remember from the canon. Movies and specials are just easy for me to remember good places for reference pics. :x
