Cabin Pressure (BBC Radio 4)

Post by Stopwatch »

So, I doubt many people here will have heard of it because it's a radio programme, but it's worth a shot.

Anyway, it's a sitcom about an airline (as much as one aeroplane can be considered so :V) and it's just hilarious (and later on especially the character development is also well done). I have to say that Douglas is my favourite character, but they all have their moments and it's written by John Finnemore so :x.

I'm fairly sure you can find all the episodes on YouTube btw.

Oh my god Cabin Pressure is a work of comedic genius.

Douglas is fantastic, but I think Carolyn is my favourite (my favourite episodes are the ones where they war over whisky...) Sometimes I feel sorry for Martin, but he does kinda get himself into it a lot of the time. Mainly, he's a brilliant Straight Man for Carolyn, Douglas and Arthur to bounce around.

Actually, wait, I tell a lie, my favourite episode is the one where they have the orchestra aboard. I forget the destination, but I must have listened to that one six times.

I really like the Birling Day episodes too (all the not-Sherlock references in Paris make it doubly funny :x), though I'm not actually sure of my favourite episode. I suppose Qikiqtarjuaq (I got the spelling correct? O.o), Uskerty and Ottery St. Mary are three of the funniest, but I'm not entirely sure of which I prefer the most in the entire series so...

I'm a bit the same over Martin though because sometimes you just have to laugh at him, but then other times it's not hard not to feel sorry for him. I like that Finnemore hasn't fully fixed his flaws though because sometimes writers do that and well... :/.

The orchestra one was one of the ones with a name I hadn't heard of before so, Gdansk. The ending to that was perfect :x.

I'm incredibly nervous over how the Z episode (has it been confirmed as Zurich yet? I can't remember) will go though.

I haven't completely caught up on it, so I'm not sure what the Z episode will be. I need to get back to that.

Idk, Zurich feels sort of underwhelming now. I mean, it was certainly a fitting end (and those accents were hilarious) but now there's nothing new left to come and that disappoints me :/. To be fair, I'm glad it always had this set end because it means it doesn't drag on long past its peak and I don't have to watch it wither away or become twisted into something else (hello Doctor Who and Sherlock), but that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed it's finally over. It had a good run though ^^.

*goes off to listen to the Good Omens radio adaptation*

42 seconds into the first episode, and I think about 35 of those seconds were laugh track. This is super annoying so far, but I'll keep listening for a bit since there's only been praise in here so far.
