Spoiler: Spoilerish for (part of) the story. Open at own risk--you've been warned! :V
So, haven't finished the game. But made progress toward it! \o/
Finally rode on the back of Mamoswine to Anistar City and beat Serena + Olympia. Then explored the rest of the city before flying to Lysandre's café to beat up Lysandre n' gang in his super secret lab.
Just want to add two things here from that experience:
* Az and Floette's story is so sad.
* Team Flare's identity has been revealed! *dun dun DUN!* They are secretly the NSA! *GASP* Who knew?!
I mean, c'mon! They've been spying on holo caster conversations all across Kalos (maybe the rest of the poké-world, too?) all along. *shot* :VVV
Anyway. Beat up some more team flare members and made my way to the super secret HQ and beat Lysandre again. Then beat some more grunts and admins before making my way to the basement with the legendary pokemon.
Quite the anticlimatic battle that was. Two mystical fires and Xerneas is down in red, then I throw a dusk ball and gets a critical capture at first try. I knew it was easy to capture from how others had described it, but...somehow had expected more of the fight. :V
That's all I had to share. Next stop Snowbelle City and eight gym badge! \o/
Spoiler:
You should have used a heal ball Raiden! Oh wait it's not Yveltal :V
you know whats even worse if you somehow even fail to capture it withing a couple of tries. The legendary stats actually gets LOWER for easier capture.
Really? I did not knew that, I suppose it makes sense though. Not that you can do much about it when critical capture decides to occur (my chances for such is about average with a 1.5 multiplier).
@Nix: XD
Spoiler:
Worry not~ I shall use a heal ball on Yveltal when I get Y! \o/

Does anyone know if it's true or not that tipping Phil the Photo Guy increases your likelihood of finding a shiny? Because I've been throwing money at that wanker for the whole game and I still haven't seen a single bloody shiny.

I read tipping helps, but it's been unconfirmed

Same as before, hasn't been confirmed, but I do tip every single person that asks me for money just in case
If you want a shiny just for kicks, most recommended is to consecutive fish, which is just keep fishing pokemon without missing a bite (You can run away from the pokemon) until you fins a shiny or your consecutive chain is broken.

And here I thought my box full of Torchic was bad. But maybe that's because they weren't getting any better, and thus I couldn't upgrade the parents...
