Episode 565 (The Eye-Witness Who Did Not See) Discussion Thr

Post by kkslider5552000 »

Yeah, no one cares about this case. And the Detective Boys just happen to be there.

But I love the new OP. It had a ton of energy and was extremely awesome.

not too bad, liked the new OP too. As GinRei said it was not difficult to guess who did it and how even  :-\.
What I liked most was the Conan and Ran bit in the introduction, and the scenes from movie 14 at the end.
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

It kinda ticked me off to see their BAR  BER spelling :-X
Perhaps they were trying to pun on the darts bar thingie?

I liked the flipped clock trick -- I wish they could expand on that, or make an AO case that has something to do with faking alibis with flipped clocks.

You know, I've never heard of the flipped clocks before this--are those primarily a Japanese thing or do you guys see those 'round as well?

As I was saying to GinRei before, I thought a great spoof video is possible for the part where Conan realizes he can't see the clock from the outside, and then says, "But Ayumi said she could see it from here..." and then spin the angle that Ayumi was the culprit, because we know she was. :-X

noticed that as well, things like that make me wonder if anyone on the show's crew knows a word of english sometimes :P

also I think the new OP's pretty awesome.

Obviously a QC error rather than an english one.  They had been spelling it properly the rest of the episode.  I was almost hoping it'd turn out he was wearing a knock-off and that it might play into the deduction.

It was just a case more in DC's history, nothing more and nothing less. I agree with those that says that the best part was the inicial part between Conan and Ran.

right, but I figure someone drawing that frame wouldn't misspell it in the first place if they actually knew the word. I know at least I'm much more likely to misspell something in Japanese than I am in English.

People overestimate the amount of English that Japanese people know. Most of the time, the artists know very, very little English and are actually just drawing the symbols they see on the storyboard (aka, letters). The reason this shows up so often is that they aren't seasoned to look for these types of errors, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen in Japanese as well. We've had a few instances where they typo'd or otherwise overlooked consistency in both the movies and the TV show.

For example, in Movie 13, one of the female victims is 45 in one screen and 54 in another. She was obviously too young to be 54, so we corrected it to 45 (even though neither had any bearing whatsoever on the case).

EDIT: Oh, and there was some instance in a recent episode, but I can't remember what it was (maybe even two). Maybe GinRei will; somebody told me about it, at least. We all make mistakes, just... they're getting paid to do it. Off with their heads, I say!

I think it was the Rainbow Bag case.  The name of the place with the bridge shortly thereafter had it romanized, and the romanization was rather off.

But why use English if they can't do it right?

I thought it was because they want people from other countries to laugh at their use of words with the letter l or r.
