Spoiler:Well after the producers told the fans there wouldn't be any new questions, just answers, we got the exact opposite. The double episode told two stories:
Many fans refer to one of them as "What If Plot". It tells the story of what would've happened if the detonation of the hydrogen bomb would've changed the past/future (whatever). We see the plane land safely in Los Angeles, even tough a few things - except the plane not crashing - are different from what we've seen in season 1. For example: Hurley says he's the luckiest man alive, Jack only gets one bottle vodka, Shannon didn't left Sydney and was not on board. After the plane lands Kate is able to escape custody by kidnapping a cab where we see Claire inside.
It's not clear when the second plot takes place. We see everyone that was present at the explosion near the Swan Station after Desmond blew it up at the end of season 2. They find Juliet in the debris but she eventually dies just when she was about to tell something to Sawyer. Miles, who can talk to dead people, found out that Juliet wanted to say "It worked." (Whatever that means.)
Dead Jacob appears in front of Hurley and tells him that the only way to safe Sayid is to bring him to the temple and that Jin would know where to find it. Jack is not able to make Sayid's bleeding stop, so they go to the temple where they are captured by some people we've never seen before. Just before they want to shoot our survivors Hurley is able to convince them that Jacob send them so that Sayid's life could be saved. The temple people try to help Sayid but they fail. When Hurley tells them that Jacob has died everyone prepares for an invasion while our survivors don't know what's going on. Then Sayid suddenly opens his eyes and gets up...
One (Two actually) hell of an episode.
Spoiler:
The alternative timeline is SOOO COOOL, I love how things are different, like how Hurley is really lucky...Also, I was sure that Locke would not be a cripple, but he still is
I find the timeline with Jack and Sawyer still on the island is a bit dumb. I only care for the alternative reality and Locke's story (as Jacob's enemy/smoke monster - I CALLED IT!!)
