The LEGO® Movie

Post by Jecka »

So there's going to be a lego movie coming out in 2014, and actually it looks pretty good.

The animation looks stop-motion, but it's CGI, which I think is awesome. What do you think?

If the humor is on the same level as Lego City Undercover then I'm totally on board for this

That was actually fantastically clever in unexpected ways.
Spoiler:
The bit where Emmet hears Lord Business mention people being put to sleep on TV and then immediately forgets about it because he's laughing about "Where's My Pants?" is The LEGO Movie doing perfectly in 30 seconds what The Hunger Games hasn't done very well in three books or two movies.

Also BENNY. I HAD BENNY WHEN I WAS A KID AND HIS HELMET WAS BROKEN IN EXACTLY THE SAME GODDAMN PLACE. SPACESHIP SPACESHIP SPACESHIP!!!

And The Man Upstairs... that plot twist was straight-up genius. But then...

"Lord Business... is he the bad guy?"

WELP I DIDN'T COME TO THIS MOVIE EXPECTING TO CRY BUT THERE YOU GO. STAB ME IN THE HEART WITH FEELS LIKE A LEGO BRICK TO THE FOOT WHY DON'T YOU.
I think I need to watch this movie like three more times to pin down exactly why it's brilliant but goddamn, it really is.

Spoiler:
while Emmet was falling, i inadvertently said out loud, "real life?" and i was right. coolawesome twist. awesome twist indeed!

the part that the sister was given permission to the basement, was like Dee Dee entering Dexter's lab

anyway, i gotta do some jumping jacks, . . . . lego style.

Spoiler:
As soon as I saw the "artifacts" I knew for a fact that they are being toyed with (no pun intended). The artifacts are the only thing out of place that wasn't a brick. Which meant "the man above" was humans. During inside Emmet's mind futher prove the point with the actual hand appearing. And the icing in the cake was the ghost of s Vitruvius with the string XD. Though one thing I wasn't expecting was the Live Action of the Kid and his father.

Reviving this topic to say that I saw the movie and was extremely impressed. This was one of the funniest and most clever movies to come out in years and years and years. Great for kids and adults, great voice talent, great use of various properties and characters.

Totally awesome.
