This topic is for SPOILER FREE discussions of the current manga case. If you have glimpsed progression in the case that has not yet been covered by DCTP releases, this is not the correct topic to be discussing in. Spoilers from the latest case, no matter their source, may be discussed in the other topic on this case, which can be found here. Please read the rules in the first post of that topic as well!

Why is this necessary?

Due to the files making their way onto the internet in full much earlier than before, we will be experimenting with having spoiler free discussion threads for all the latest cases. This will give everyone the opportunity to proceed with following and discussing the series in the manner they are most comfortable with.

What happens with the other type of discussion topic?

They stay exactly the same. The topics that we have been discussing the files in while using spoiler boxes need to operate by the exact same rules as before, especially for the time being. There are several reasons for this. Foremost, people may accidentally stumble into that topic (either from the index or without seeing that there is a "spoiler free" topic available). As a result, the old rule of "if DCTP hasn't released it, use a spoiler box" will still apply as much as ever, at least for now.

After reading the file, here are my thoughts:
The woman killed him and the evidence is linked to the Yoko poster. I haven't really thought it through any more than that, but I am liking this side of Kogoro. It makes him seem like a real PI, which we haven't seen in ages.

Well, I thought that the killer was the guy who bought the darts. He could have put poison on one of them and pricked the boss with it.

Concerning the information from the last file, the "ponk" sound and the smell most likely came from a film canister "rocket". Using the endothermal reaction of vinegar and baking powder, one can make a film canister leap high into the air. So far for the ponk, as for the yuzu smell:



yuzu vinegar is a commonly used vinegar in the japanese cuisine.
So my hypothesis for now would be a) the woman is the murderer for obvious reasons and obvious motive and b) she used clay on the end of the canister and the aforementioned reaction to shoot the canister onto the ceiling and make it stick there in order to avoid it being found. She probably made a little hole into the bottom of the canister to achieve a higher thrust akin to a rocket engine, hence the image of a starting space shuttle in conan's thoughts. Now we only need to guess what the actual murder weapon is, maybe a small needle or such, but that should be the trick

Also, how would the murder weapon be kept out of sight? Since, you know, gravity and such. I agree that it's probably the woman though, and the sound the bartender kept hearing was probably the woman testing out her trick. It's also possible that this trick requires a bit of luck, since it happened 2 or 3 times before, kind of like the static electricity case.

Also, I should mention that even though I was on the spoiler cbox, nothing about the trick was mentioned, just some plot discussion, nor have I even looked at file 855. I know just as much as you guys

You could stick the poisoned needle into the clay to be left at the ceiling, even if the rest of the canister comes back down, there'd be only a bit of clay left on the ceiling, nothing suspicious there. Also for the mess, Conan noted that the smudge left on the poster smells of yuzu, so the champagne bottle was not only used to mask the sound but also spray from the expanding mixture. Also skip my "nozzle" theory, that wouldn't produce a bang and is not necessary especially if the rest of the can also comes down.

One could prove that this trick was used by examining the film, if there was some
residue left inside the can, the film would most likely have been damaged

I reckon the culprit is the woman. She might have stuck a small poisonous tack in him and used one of the film canisters to get rid of it.

Highly unlikely that Kogoro ever figures it out, right now he just believe he have a second personality.
