*SPOILER FREE* Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files 847-849

Post by KnightusMaximus »

This topic is for SPOILER FREE discussions of the current manga case. If you have glimpsed progression in the case that has not yet been covered by DCTP releases, this is not the correct topic to be discussing in. Spoilers from the latest case, no matter their source, may be discussed in the other topic on this case, which can be found here. Please read the rules in the first post of that topic as well!

In other words: If DCTP has not released the file in question, it is NOT to be discussed in this topic, not even in spoiler boxes.

Why is this necessary?

Due to the files making their way onto the internet in full much earlier than before, we will be experimenting with having spoiler free discussion threads for all the latest cases. This will give everyone the opportunity to proceed with following and discussing the series in the manner they are most comfortable with.

What happens with the other type of discussion topic?

They stay exactly the same. The topics that we have been discussing the files in while using spoiler boxes need to operate by the exact same rules as before, especially for the time being. There are several reasons for this. Foremost, people may accidentally stumble into that topic (either from the index or without seeing that there is a "spoiler free" topic available). As a result, the old rule of "if DCTP hasn't released it, use a spoiler box" will still apply as much as ever, at least for now.

I seen addressing people in Japanese by using "kun" for Conan-kun, "chan" for Ran-chan and "san" for Kogorou-san many times. What is meaning of "tan" for Yumi-tan?

"-tan" is a common mispronunciation of "-chan" by really young children who are just learning to talk. For that reason, it is very childish and usually has pet name connotations when used purposely in the place of "-chan". :-X

So her ex obviously still likes her, and she probably still likes him too by the way she's acting.

I also have my own theory about what the 'seven' thing is all about.
Spoiler: Does NOT spoil the next two files
Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Chianti, Korn, Kir, Bourbon.  So yeah, I think it might actually be likely this guy might be Anokata himself. (Of course, it's also likely that he's not.) To keep the seven, here's my reasoning: Bourbon replaced Akai (Rye) to make the seven, or he replaced Calvados after the Vermouth arc incident. I don't think Kir's father had a code name (if he did, it has never been specified), so Kir likely got her code name after killing him, although this has also never been confirmed. In total, we have seven people, prompting the boss to finally make an appearance.
He is also someone Haibara would likely never suspect since he's so childish. Of course, this is just a theory, but I like it, so I hope someone will at least consider it before calling me an idiot this time.  ;D

Indeed.  I find myself lost as to what the optical illusion case was, though.

Episodes 652-655: The Design of Poison and Mirage (The Heiji case where Kazuha confesses). Corresponds to Files 781-786.

Thanks for the scanlation :). For some reason I find this arc more enjoyable than the next one. Probably because I really like Yumi and Haibara.

Ok the culprit is most likely the husband... I hate it when it's said implicitly like that. Sakurako hasn't anything to do with the woman she's just working as a housemaid (each time she's housemaid she encounters a murder case --" she's gonna resign at the end of this case as well xD), Yumi's ex-boyfriend either + he has an important role in this case with Yumi and the son is not even there.. --'

About the trick used in this case ; I don't know exactly how the guy killed his wife (if it's him) but I wonder if the door slamming wasn't a part of the trick.

You never know with Gosho, it could always be the son via some elaborate murder trap :P

Here's my preliminary deduction, the husband killed his wife, the husband first made his wife unconscious then tied her neck pass the cloth (what I think is the murder weapon) towards the fan, attach it to the bedroom door, attach a string from the bedroom door to the entryway door so that when the entryway door was opened, the bedroom would close and pull the cloth tied to the wife's neck and eventually hung her.

I thought about that too but I don't think it's the case. Plus, that's what the author wants us to think so nop.
