Re: *SPOILER FREE* Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files
I think Bourbon pretended to have a cold so that he could fake a weak voice, similar to the Shirigami case a while ago, since he can't imitate voices.
Knowing the truth and knowing what to do with the truth are two completely separate ideas. Learn to distinguish them. OR ELSE.

Re: *SPOILER FREE* Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files
Bourbon was able to change his voice because he was pretending to be sick, in chapter 850 Conan says that his voice is pretty husky. So Bourbon just uses a crude way of disguising his voice. Plus it also helps that Conan and Jodie don't know what that guy actually sounds like, but they do know what Akai sounds like.Wakarimashita wrote: Nobody was slightly annoyed by the fact Bourbon was capable of disguising himself just as well as Vermouth (that includes changing his voice) ?

For that matter, Bourbon wouldn't even need to fake a cold at all if all he was going to do is talk to Jodie. Can't identify a person by their voice if you've never heard them talking in the first place.

I don't really agree with Chek on the ooc-ness of Jodie.
She's been hoping Scar-Akai was Akai for quite some time, and now that Conan tells her that's not the case, he is dying a second time for her. It's natural for her to be really upset in that situation.
Also, she even finally got the cell phone trick. But I guess she won't conclude Akai is alive from that at this point because it would feel like another stupid excuse for hoping.
(Also, what she said directly to Bourbon only gave away she knows Scar Akai is fake, but that she knows nothing about Akai, which isn't too bad, right? Conan's reaction to her mentioning the phone is far more of a tell.)
But yea, I wanted to complain about Haibara's missing reaction too. You never see her too close to Bourbon or Vermouth, but still... Either the radar burned through during the Bell train case, or it only works if the BO focusses on her
(The second option might even be what is intended. During the Okiya introduction case, she only sensed him for a short time, when she has his focus. Also in other situations I recall right now, it's only when the BO-in-question is in an agressive mood. Might make it acceptable.)

I partly agree with this. While it makes sense that she wouldn't be able to solve the actual case since she was more focused on the mysteries around Akai, it still doesn't make sense that she'd tell some random person about the attack on the hospital.Giogio wrote: I don't really agree with Chek on the ooc-ness of Jodie.

The person in that scene who could hear the random guy talking to them with Amuro's real voice and realize "oh, hey, this is Bourbon in disguise!" sure ain't Jodie.Wakarimashita wrote:They could recognize Amuro's voice though.aly_angelflight wrote: For that matter, Bourbon wouldn't even need to fake a cold at all if all he was going to do is talk to Jodie. Well whenever he talks to Jodie, Conan is right there with her. So he'd recognize it.aly_angelflight wrote:The person in that scene who could hear the random guy talking to them with Amuro's real voice and realize "oh, hey, this is Bourbon in disguise!" sure ain't Jodie.Wakarimashita wrote:They could recognize Amuro's voice though.aly_angelflight wrote: For that matter, Bourbon wouldn't even need to fake a cold at all if all he was going to do is talk to Jodie. Re: *SPOILER FREE* Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files
Still a little confused about the line at the end of 852. Amuro's calling Conan terrifying, but there wasn't really anything in his dialogue that we see that could be described as that. Unless it's Amuro referring to all the deductions about Scar Akai and who Bourbon was when he was telling Jodie?
And I noticed that the Shonen Tantei Dan didn't bother Conan during the summation. Back in Volume 13, I think, that was the first time that Conan used Agasa for deductions. During it, they bothered him, but this time they didn't, despite Conan being so out in the open compared to normal. It confuses me. (Not Conan doing it in front of everyone, though. Lately, he's just getting so sloppy that I'm honestly waiting for Gin to show up at the Detective Agency and try to kill him.)
Yeah, Pmofmalasia, I have to agree about Ran needing to know. At this point, he's so damn sloppy that having a second person regularly with him to keep him in check (and possibly to give information to so she could point it out to investigators instead of him) would be much safer. Especially with Amuro being so close, though it'd be a bit risky for Ran to do so, she could chalk it up to learning from hanging around investigations all the time with her dad and him.
And I missed the coffee thing, too, Yuco-chan. I know a lot of people who drink coffee or canned coffee. It's not exactly a strong enough hint that Dai=Akai for Haibara to go on, unless it was viewed in tandem with many other details together.

Re: *SPOILER FREE* Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files
Conan's never really hidden himself around the DB anyway, so that really doesn't strike me as odd at this point. And Haibara does know that Dai was an FBI agent working on the BO case, so I suppose that's another detail, but still kind of a stretch.
As for why he calls Conan terrifying, it's because he now knows that Conan is involved with the FBI, and was able to form a plan all on his own to figure out who was the spy at the hospital. So he knows he's clearly not just a normal kid now.

Yes, you can say that "Because Conan was nearby, Amuro had to fake a cold while in disguise". However, that doesn't prove that Amuro faking a cold while in disguise is a necessary condition for Amuro to talk to Jodie any more than Heiji attending a baseball game at a certain stadium proves that the stadium isn't closing down next month.

http://www.dctp.ws/V80-Reader/V80-11Read/A9.html The man (Bourbon) said it would be bad if he passed his cold to somebody but he's had his cold mask pulled down most of the time and he didn't put the cold mask back over his mouth when his pregnant wife showed up. http://www.dctp.ws/V81-Reader/V81-2Read/A11.html so Conan should figure out that something was up.

It can't be. There have been times when BO guys didn't even see her and she felt anyway. (->Pisco, Akai (panda case), Bourbon (abducting conan case)..)Giogio wrote: But yea, I wanted to complain about Haibara's missing reaction too. So yeah it was just that Gosho wanted it to keep it secret about their identities.
On an other note, Bourbon and Vermouth are super handy to slip/remove a tiny listening device from Jodie's sleeve without her not noticing anything...she's an FBI agent huh..
With the canned coffee info, Bourbon will just have to hang out around machines that serve canned coffee and spy xD
No seriously Bourbon heard the phone story. --' All he has to do is to deduce "burnt guy's fingerprints -> Kusuda's" xD if not done already...
