Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files 844-846

could it be that Sera is Hondou Eisuke??? I think the way the two smile is quite similar.. We have not yet been confirmed that Sera is a girl...
Although we did see her in undies in the chapter with Kaito Kid. If Sera really is Hondou Eisuke, I think it can give reasonable explantion
to the strange feeling that Conan and Ran is having about Sera.

If that were the case, since she's been confirmed to be Akai's sister then Akai would have known Kir beforehand.  Plus, Eisuke never had the fanged grin, so that wouldn't be an identifying factor for Conan.

So, is this screaming for a "Shinichi and Ran as kids meeting Sera at the sea"-case? xD

It's such a bummer though that it seems we won't get the answer in the near future...If Gosho is making his characters say "not yet"....it's gonna take a while. A long one, probably. T_T

edit: I guess we can take the "met when they were kids" theory for granted, and looking back now, c.801 seems to almost spell it out that Sera knows Conan=Shinichi (90%).

Though I'm curious as to how Gosho will explain that Ran hasn't positively discovered Conan=Shinichi, when it's apparently no big deal to Sera who appears to have met him only briefly. Yeah yeah, she's a great detective. T_T I'll be disappointed if that beats "over ten years of friendship and some fishy movements to protect the secret identity."

I don't think it would be odd that Sera can easily recognize Shinichi if they met when they were kids. Ran has had years to get used to the idea that Shinichi is older. Sera might only have memory of little Shinichi and recognizes him as Conan. Even if Ran has more reason to be suspicious of him, she's the type to hang on to what she knows, even if she is aware that something strange might have happened. Depending on how much Sera knows, she might be more willing to believe that Conan is Shinichi and can come up with reasons why. Sera might also have access (or ability to access) more information than Ran that she can use to check the possibility that Conan is Shinichi.

Plus, Ran has also seen (well, thinks she's seen) Conan and Shinichi at the same time so that helps quell her suspicions.  And Ran actually did figure it out really quickly (not sure how many manga chapters it was since the starting anime order is all screwy), but he fooled her by 'being in the same place at once'.  If she were to realize that Kogoro weren't the one talking, then I think she'd be able to piece it all together.  Since it seems to me like even when she was suspicious of him, she never thought he actually did more than point out the clues to Kogoro, and then Kogoro would piece together the clues that Shinichi gave him.  Plus, I'm of the opinion that she's suspicious again (the DNA comment, pretty much the whole Cold Case arc) so I wouldn't say Ran is totally oblivious

What I said was also meant more from the story-telling view than from the "in-universe" view.

I think it was. It was at least shown. Can't pinpoint a chapter right now, but I'm pretty sure it has been there before.

I didn't get the resolution of the case. I mean, that trick could have served the culprit open the lock he had set, but what about the other one? I mean there are two locks! Can someone explain me what did the culprit do?

The culprit put the second lock on with the messed up lock.  Then it went back to the sender, then back again.  When it got back only the messed up lock is on, and then he can take it off.

Gosho also explicitly pointed it out in his Sherry's soliloquy for that week too. He seems to draw attention to quite a few clues in those comments of his.
