I think Btooom is a show where the difference between "good" and "entertaining" should be noted, because while I can watch it and be entertained I'm not sure how good of a show I'd actually say it is.

also, one of the characters in the finale is a complete dumb for someone who supposedly plays the game and moments before just showcased their knowledge about the game:

Spoiler:

so, main character is being attacked by homing bombs, which only explode when they get close to their target. Love interest runs up, snatches bomb from the air and deactivates it, which, as a surprise defense, makes sense. But then she just decides to stand in front of the main character to protect him. Rather than it being completely obvious to her why this is a bad idea, the main character has to be the one to think "hmm, wait what if the bad guy attacks her instead!", narrowly saving her life as the bad guy sends a homing bomb targeted at her instead of the main character.

it's just like, c'mon now. Surely people in the game attacked you when you did this, too, you should know better.

usually I can kinda forgive lapses of judgement that characters make, but this time it was just completely baffling.

Then again, Taira could've made a bluff and continued targeting Sakamoto instead. I, for one, actually found the scenario to be an interesting mind game... if only Taira wasn't stupid

just because one person in a fight can choose to bluff doesn't mean that it isn't still completely stupid for the other team to put all their chips in one pile. Besides, the "bluff" angle wasn't really the show's intention anyway, because even apparently Sakamoto was too stupid to think of the possibility until a few seconds before it got there. The entire situation just showed all three characters being complete doofuses.

well yeah, but this series always liked to think it used strategy (like "oh look he used perspective!" "radar canceling!" "he jumped in the hole!" etc), so the massive bout of stupidity in that last part was more noticeable. In most shounen it's more forgivable though, because the cast is basically running around like idiots and there's zero pretense of strategy
