Two days in a row of standing and walking around on the stone floors of the Castle and I'm not entirely certain that I have feet anymore. I really need better shoes.

Much as I'm enjoying being in this performance, I also really can't wait for it to be over because the director is the most stressed person I've ever met. She reduced one of our set designers to tears the other day for not having a statuette made two weeks before the deadline, even thought that designer was busy doing all the work that the other designed was slacking off on. She is never happy with a single thing that the lightning designers do and keeps correcting our usherette on her French speech that she gives when welcoming everyone to the performance, which would be great if the usherette wasn't actually French. She also keeps sending our "security guard" to fetch things during dress rehearsals, which is awkward because everyone involved with the play is dressing as their analogues in 1944 Paris, so our security guard is dressed as a Nazi, so it's more than a little awkward for the German girl to be walking around dressed as a Nazi even if it was her idea (because she's the only one who can reliably shout at people in German). And she finds fault with every damn thing that the three of us main actors are doing. I mean, it's probably a sign that we're doing everything else right if she's ranting at me about the angle of my eyebrows on my disbelief face, but seriously, she is nitpicking my eyebrows when I am watching someone else monologue. Someone who is going to be spotlit, so the audience won't even be able to see me even if they were looking at me during someone else's extravagant monologue. And then she drove one of my costars to tears today over continually mispronouncing the word "stifling", which is hard for her because she's Finnish, has a really strong accent and isn't completely fluent in English. She's memorized the rest of the script and can deliver some pretty hefty monologues including quite a number of words that she's never seen before this performance with no flaws save her accent being ever-present, but it's not incomprehensible. She sounds really good. She just mispronounces that word because the syllable combination is really, really hard for her. It's still recognizably the word "stifling". But the director will not let it go, and prefers to yell at her instead of coming up with some tonguetwisters for her to practice or some vocal exercise or, you know, something that will actually help.

Gah. Long rant is long. But seriously, this woman is pissing me off. I'm enjoying being in this play until she cuts off rehearsals to vent her stress on somebody until they cry. GET A STRESS BALL, WOMAN, NONE OF US CAN WORK LIKE THIS.

Uh, professor in charge of my Java class? You should've had the whole file input thing uploaded and included the directions for the assignment when you originally assigned it, not the class afterwards.  :|

Due to that, I wasted all but the last 5 or so minutes of lab Tuesday manually defining the 110 values for the arrays, only to find out the instruction changed to "you must grab the values for those variables from the attached text file" right as I was about to turn it in today. >:(

Again, there's nothing to do during labs but our programming assignments... ::)

Ok, Cold, I need you go the hype away now. I don't enjoy talking to people while I'm ringing up their purchase with my throat feeling like I've swallowed burning glass because of sneezing and coughing so much.

in a way

but what happened to aly isn't too uncommon either, profs love to have errors/issues with their stuff for the first few days after an assignment is announced, so you may as well procrastinate.

besides, last-day programming time is the soul of CS courses, imo. :P

Try drinking water with some honey mixed in, to sooth your throat?
I have finally started to actually publish my story! For the moment, expect a new chapter each month.

The Case of the Midnight Channel
"When a strange letter summons the Mouri family to Inaba, Ran is expecting a case. She's not expecting it to involve the TV, though.
If Naoto investigated everyone who came to visit Inaba, she'd have little time for real cases. When Yukiko reports that the Midnight Channel is back, however, she starts to wonder if the visitors are connected. Especially when the image clears, unveiling yet another mystery."

Short version: I'm taking various DC/MK characters to Inaba (where Persona 4 takes place) and dropping them through the TV to face their Shadows!

I've been drinking mint tea with honey in it for the last few days and that seems to help. I'll give what you're suggesting a try. By the way, do you mean warm water or cold?

Whatever temperature you'd normally drink water at. Mix some honey into a bottle of water to bring to work with you so that you can take a sip as needed between customers. Explain to your boss that it's so you don't loose your voice in the middle of talking to someone.

Ice. I cannot tell you how much I hate ice. Ice panics me so badly that I can't even breathe when I'm having to try to walk across the god-forsaken stuff. I want to cry just looking at it. But because I had to be out the door at six in the f***ing morning to be in for rehearsals, the gritters hadn't been anywhere yet. The result? F***ing ice everywhere.
